Mavic Mantra Shoes

DESCRIPTION

This is a high performance all mountain shoe that compares to a cross-country racing shoe in the way a hiking shoe differs from a running shoe. The Mavic Mantra Shoe has a stiff carbon outsole, but it is tuned for more walking and covered in more rubber to make the hike-a-bike sections easier. No toe spikes, but more aggressive rubber lugs all around. A wide rubber bumper protects the entire toe box from getting roughed up on rough stuff. Another plus for us is the two Velcro straps, Mavic's Comfort Strap XL. Buckles, while great at securing your foot, are always ripe for breaking on a rock. Mavic has taken a nice, wide Velcro strap, an innovation that crazily enough first arrived on triathlon shoes, and runs it across the top of the foot. A wide strap both dissipates pressure over a greater surface area and gives the strap more loops for Velcro hooks to hang on, so it's not only more comfy, but more secure. Inside the upper is a seamless interior. Seams can abrade and chafe, even through socks. Mavic calls this their Ergo Lite Upper. At the bottom is the Ergo Fit 3D insole. It has three densities of padding, along with a nice heel cup and metatarsal pad. The insole is covered in an anti-bacterial material that resists stink. Atop the interior is the XL Vent Tongue, a breathable, open-cell EVA foam that allows your foot to breathe while further dissipating pressure from the straps. The Mavic Mantra Shoe comes in sizes 4.5-12 in whole and half sizes (37.33 to 47.33 in Euro sizing). The color is Black with Grey. Weight (for a size 8.5 shoe) is 415g per shoe.
