Strengths:    Reliable, simple, features a few useful extra functions

Weaknesses:    ugly and bulky bar-mount

Bottom Line:
Purchased it 7 years ago, raced it for 4 seasons, still works perfectly.
I replaced the ugly mount with a slimmer one from a Cateye Velo8. The only malfunctions occurred where sensor-mount related and could be easily fixed with a little creativity.
It has the basic functions plus a second trip distance counter, two tire size settings and a auto/manual start/stop switch that works extraordinary (you can set a automatic start of measurement for the start of a race and stop the time manually). This feature is very very rare at this price point.
In this age of GPS units it looks very sexy and classic on a race bike. Having only a stopwatch and current speed on display is guarantied fun ride. I find it funny when I see someone recharging their Garmin because my battery lasts for 3 years.
Unfortunately they don't make these anymore. I will be very sad if I lose this beauty (it won't brake or stop working, that's for sure).

Strengths:    Does everything it is suppose to do without problems.

Weaknesses:    It doesn't do as much as a more expensive computer (altitude, heart rate, etc.)

Bottom Line:
I've had this bike computer for over 2 years and 13,000 miles. It has always worked perfectly. I never changed the battery. For a basic bike computer, it can't be beat.

Strengths:    great functionality, good readability

Weaknesses:    horrible mount negates the positives of the computer

Bottom Line:
The computer works flawlessly and is easy to read, but the mount is worthless. The computer will not stay clipped into its socket and falls off easily when jarred by road bumps. Mine fell off without me noticing after about a year of use.

I have everything set up on my new Cateye Mity 8 computer. However I see nowhere in the instructions where it explains how to change the speed scale from km/h to mph. Does anyone know how to do this?Read More »
