at Online fitness deale Favorite Ride: Bourg 'Oisans to Col du Glandon Bike Setup: Specialized Allez, Ultegra, etc. Summary: THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE POLAR F7, WHICH IS NOT LISTED ON YOUR WEBSITE, BUT IS SIMILAR TO POLAR F11.
Product overpriced, performs poorly and is not recommended. Strengths: Purchased for general fitness, but used primarily for cycling & training. Has several good basic functions, such as stopwatch, recording of past sessions and multi-function display. Weaknesses: While I record training sessions, during typical rides I mount watch on handlebars to monitor heart rate as speed, terrain and conditions change.
But this model's transmission system is terrible. Despite following all directions (including moistening strap sensors), monitor reads 00 bpm for first 5 minutes of use, then 50 bpm or so for 5 minutes, then eventually gets up to accurate reading...for a while. Then it drops to 40's and 50's, all while my eyes are bugging out on a hard workout. And neither my position nor the monitor's has changed. Replacing batteries (by a jeweler) in both transmitter and receiver did no good. Although I had a Polar previously and upgraded to this model, I know that there are better, more reliable products at a better price - without the Polar price. Sadly, I will never buy a Polar again.
