Strengths:    Strong, accurate, durable, stable, simulates the road flawlessly, excellent support, can do climbing simulations flawlessly, can interface with other devices including an interface with the net (plus voice over net!),

Weaknesses:    Poor portability. Can easily be moved on the same floor but awkward otherwise.

    Bottom Line:
If you want a trainer that's tough, accurate, a true simulator, one that can interface with other company's products, will last for years, has excellent support, can take anything you can dish out, pick the Velodyne. The only thing it is "weak" on is portability, at least when it comes to moving it from the floor you have it on.
I've owned mine for over 20 years and it's still going strong. These days I've connected it to the Internet to ride with others on the same terrain during the winter. Worked, as usual, like a charm. You have accurate watts, heart rate, cadence, all types of road racing, with or without other simulated cyclist.
It's the backbone of my indoor winter workouts and an extremely highly rated product.
It uses a 20 lb. freewheel which helps simulate the outdoors very well.
