Strength:

-Light
-Builds into a stiff wheel with it's high flanges
-Scares competition with it's noisy, firm ratcheting system (my favorite sounding hub)
-Easy service

Weakness:

Low, low, low bearing life.
Also, alu freehub body can get notched by cassette pretty easily, but not so much as to be anywhere near a problem.

This hub is so light, it's silly.

Let me explain what I mean by that. This hub, at first glance, seems like it should be rock solid. 4 cartridge bearings, 6 pawls, more engagement points than you'll ever need, big, thick flanges, low dish, 7000 alu construction. Pretty solid. Then you look at those bearings... those pesky bearings. They are exactly 3mm's tall, and 5mm's wide. Needless to say, they are light, but silly. They wear out very quickly, so AMC should package this hub with 4 extras. Expect about 500-1000 miles on these bearings before replacing, i.e., one season on your race wheels.

All that being said, this is one of the lightest, siffest hubs out there. If you're building a race specific wheel, or you have it speced on some AMC's, it is awesome. I have this laced to a low profile alu tubular rim with revolutions, 32 3x, and it spins up crazy fast. With tire and glue, it's tips the scales at 903 grams. Thats a touch under 700 grams without the tire for a $150 investment.

Finally, when you do need to rebuild it, it's very easy to do. I'd say if you can tune your bike up solo, it would easily be a do-it-yourself thing. Disassemble, pop out bearings, pop in bearings, degrease, regrease, assemble. Done!
