$0.00 Summary: This is a a review for the 2007 Centaur rear hub. This is a great hub, super smooth bearings, good seals, nice freehub ratchet sound, quick engagement, great polished finish, includes skewer. Strengths: Smoothness of bearings, inexpensive Similar Products Used: Lots of hubs from Shimano, Campag, Ritchey, Mavic, Rolf, you name it, I've ridden it.

at Ebay Favorite Ride: Hotter 'n Hell Hundred Bike Setup: 20 year old Cinelli with mix of vintage Campy Super Record and newer Veloce parts. Summary: It is hard to go wrong with Campy these days. Everything seems to work great, even their low end stuff. When I went from 7 speed friction to 9 speed index shifting I purchased Veloce down tube shifters, rear derailleur, chain, and a $200 set of Veloce wheels that came with Mavic aero rims and a 13-26 cluster. It is amazing how much quality you can get in low end parts these days! The only annoying thing about these hubs are that they are very noisy when freewheeling. Of course all Campy hubs share this trait. Strengths: They are cheap and they work Weaknesses: cheesy plastic bits on skewers, polish isn't up to usual Campy standards but hey would have to charge more if they were, very loud when freewheeling Similar Products Used: Campy Record, Shimano Dura Ace, Shimano 600EX, Durham Bullseye, SunTour Cyclone, Specialized sealed bearing, Suzue, Normandy, etc.

at Parker International Favorite Ride: Anywhere quiet in the coutryside Bike Setup: George Longstaff made top measure frame with mixed Campag equipment (mostly athena) Summary: Although the hubs work adequately, the rear is really badly corroded, pieces are just flaking off it. It's on the bike which I ride to work on every day so it sees some pretty bad weather and salty roads in the winter. I think that I will have to replace it soon as there is not much left outside the spoke holes. I will probably go for Royce or Hope as these have a reputation for being bomb proof. Strengths: Cheap, Looks OK Weaknesses: Noisy freewheel, Corrosion Similar Products Used: Campag Record, Athena

| | Favorite Ride: Mt. Lemmon Bike Setup: Veloce group, King headset, Icon stem, TTT bar, Reynolds fork, Easton seatpost Summary: After two years and 6-7K miles, I never had to touch it or grease it yet. I've changed cassettes once and there's no sign of notching on the freewheel. It's a bit noisier than the Record hub. It's mated to a Ambrosio rim. I got a set of Speeddream wheels for racing, so the Veloce set is now used for training. Strengths: Durability Weaknesses: Weight Similar Products Used: Record rear.
