Strengths:    Cheap, strong, light, spin forever.

Weaknesses:    None after 2K miles

Bottom Line:
Got a new set of bombproof road wheels made up after obliterating a pair of ksyrium elites. At 100kg+ I decided to go for a set of handbuilt wheels as after I snapped a spoke on my ksyrium elites it was very hard to get the wheel right again and only led to more problems. The idea with the handbuilts was the ease of changing parts. Not to worry though.
My LBS suggest the hope hubs with DT's laced to cxp33's. I love these wheels. They area similar weight to the mavics and spin just as well if not better. I recently built a new bike and have put Chris king r45's on it. They are still awaiting their first 10hr service but side by side in my garage the hope pro iii's are spinning twice as long for half the price.

Rubino Pro III performance on wet roads

I have been toying with switching to 25mm tires and have basically come down to thinking the Rubino Pro III is my best bet. I am however concerned about their performance in the rain since I have seen some people saying they are not too good on a wet surface. I do not race, weigh about 180, and will ... Read More »

Continental 4000s to Vitoria Rubino Pro III

The side walls of my Conti 4000s were showing bare thread worn thru, so I installed a set of Vitoria Rubino Pro IIIs 170 tpi. I went on a 35 mile shakedown ride today. So far they feel smoother and pedaling feels easier and faster, comparing them to the Contis. I inflated them to 125 psi, 5 psi ... Read More »
