Strengths:    They're Dura ace. Angular contact bearings are at long last simple to adjust. Ti free hub body is light and durable.

Weaknesses:    People still complain about the free hub mechanism making strange noises. . . I thought it was nonsense and then learned from experience there's a valid continuing issue.

Bottom Line:
The rear hub would occasionally though radically change pawl pitch from ride one. It was otherwise quiet until 350 miles then started to annoyingly cadence click under power. So at that point I decided to get to the bottom of it. Tore it down and found the aluminum freehub bolt had corroded itself to the inner body due to obvious anodity issues and lack of proper antisieze application during manufacture. The thing had only been torqued to 22 nm, way below their own recommendation. There was also white powdery corrosion on the body bolt threads. Yup, this on a month old hub never ridden in wet conditions and stored in an air conditioned bike room. I also silenced the annoying pawl buzz by the usual means which Shimano deems a risk to the mechanism. Baloney. Now that I've basically re manufactured the hub it no longer cadence clicks or makes that ungodly buzzing noise some riders seem to enjoy. So my rating is based on how it works when assembled properly and torqued to spec. The bearing preload adjust is one of those simple elegant solutions I wish I would have thought of since I despise cone wrenching.
