These are the 700c versions of the 310’s and are rapidly becoming one of the most popular rims due to their lightweight, excellent lateral stiffness and great performance once on the bike.
Bike Setup: Tommasini Altec 2+, Look HSC fork, Campy Record. These rims are the 16 hole combined with special Record hubs I had and Wheel smith aero front spokes and combo of WS aero and DT blades int eh rear for a 1350 gram set of wheels w/o skewers.
Summary: $275 is a lot of money for each rim but these smoke - I am noticeabley faster to accelerate and keep the speed up one gear higher than with my other sew-up wheel set.
Strengths: The Zipp (sew-up) rim noticiably smoothed the buzz from the road compared to a nearly identical wheel using 30mm tall aluminum rim and same tires.
Weaknesses: Braking with dual action brakes (campy) with only their standard pads takes you back in time to the days of weaker side pull brakes......I may try the Corima pads but first want to give some time to see if a little more break in time (pad material left on the rough braking track) might help. Not Crit stopping ability but otherwise acceptable for steady group rides.
