at Came with my wheels Favorite Ride: Anything with Mountains Bike Setup: Standard road bikes. Shimano WH 7701 wheels. Look and Easton forks. Summary: Decent looking design. Lightweight. Long release/closure lever action. Strengths: Light weight. Weaknesses: Long throw lever action makes it easier to clear the "lawyer" tabs on the forks, but it also makes it tough to get the proper tension. For most skewers, the tension gradually increases as you close the lever making adjustment easy and reliable. With the American Classics, the tension does not increase until the skewer is almost closed making it more difficult to determine if there is enough tension to hold the wheel in place. The first time I used these skewers, I had my wheel come loose. (The "lawyer" tabs held the wheel on though.) In summary, I am not a fan of the long closure/release action, however others may like it. These are not bad skewers, you just have to pay more attention when attaching the wheel. Similar Products Used: Shimano, Mavic, Rolf, Bontrager, Kore.

Price Paid:
$0.00 Bike Setup: CAAD 4 at 15 pounds, ready to ride minus water. Summary: Umm, AC (Bill Shook) redesigned these. the new model is beautiful and lighter (110 grams per pair). Strengths: Loooooooong throw yet really tightens well. This long throw makes front wheel changes fast again. The CPSC-mandated "lawyer tabs" on forks circumvent a QR by requiring you to further loosen the nut. Not on these! Like I said, LOOOOOOOONG throw. Weaknesses: None. Best design on the market. Similar Products Used: Campy, Shimano, Rolf etc. They all have a short throw.
