Strengths: Price
chromed skewer shaft - no rust
lever is smooth once broken inWeaknesses: small cam means it's not that quick up front.
lever is kind of bulky when closed. Ok for the mountain bike, a little much on the road.
Lever end doesn't fit my trainer - no big deal.Bottom Line: Well, these are QR's, and really, what's to be expected? They hold the wheels in place, don't require too much fiddling to get the tension right, and the price is right.
I would like to see a more exaggerated cam, though. It's either futz with the front every time, or file off the lawyer tabs. I'm going to try some of the new American Classic skewers, which have a huge cam, and see if it helps.
In a straight comparison, the Salsa or Shimano skewers are better, but not that much better, so I've got 4 sets of Formula's floating around on various wheelsets.
Favorite Ride: Black Mo
Price Paid:
$12.00
Purchased At: Supergo
Similar Products Used: Salsa - very nice action, but $$
Shimano - smooth, not chromed, and expensive separately.
Bike Setup: Zonal compact frame, D-A/Ultegra mix, AM. Classic hubs to CXP-33's.
