Price Paid:  $29.00

Bike Setup:
'03 Merckx Team SC w/Campagnolo Record 10s

Summary:
Excellent wearing tire - I typically get over 2000 mi/3200 km for the rear and over 6000 mi/9700 km for the front. Only flatted once (glass) and had to replace a front tire after 4 years not because of wear, but due to dry rot cracking near the bead. Carcass is a little stiff, but delivers a lively ride. Great all-around tire for fast recreational rides and training.

Strengths:
Good wear resistance, fast rolling, not too heavy.

Weaknesses:
A little stiff.

Bike Setup:
Felt F65, Easton Circuit wheelset, Ultegra group.

Summary:
I've been riding on ProRace2s for the last 3 sets of tires and while they performed very well I was not happy with the mileage. Decided to try these based on the good reviews. A lot of reviewers noted the harsh ride but frankly, I don't see the issue. I set off expecting a stiff tire but couldn't tell the difference. Granted, the ProRace2s had about 2K miles on them but I was very pleased. The handling is a bit looser over small bits of gravel but not disconcerting. I don't comment on puncture resistance because I find most quality tires are fairly good in that regard. I've found it's mostly a matter of luck. Some of my ProRace tires have gone their entire life without a flat and others have flatted twice on the same ride. I don't blame the tire but rather the dimwits who break bottles on the shoulder and the limited budgets of the road maintenance crews.

Strengths:
Reasonably smooth ride, fair price, not too hard to mount, (on Easton Circuits).

Weaknesses:
Not yet...

Similar Products Used:
Various Vredstein, Hutchinson and Conti's but mostly ProRace2.

Favorite Ride:
Dawn Hill

Bike Setup:
2008 Cannondale Synapse 3, Ultegra group, Mavic Askium Race Wheels, Terry Fly Saddle, Shimano A520 Pedals

Summary:
These are overall the best tires I have ever used. I'm a big guy and prefer 25c tires and there aren't that many 25c tires offered. Durability and flat-resistance is much more important to me than performance and these fit the bill.

Strengths:
Very durable, good flat & cut resistance, good traction

Weaknesses:
Can be a harsh ride on rough roads or chip-n-seal.

Price Paid:  $18.00

Favorite Ride:
Downtown Detroit

Bike Setup:
'99 Kona Kapu w/ full ultegra set up and two first place Alley Cat spoke cards ;p

Summary:
After extensively researching a good tire for riding fast downtown here in Detroit, I decided on the Krylion Carbons.

I needed a tire to handle hopping on/off curbs, dodging absent minded motor city motorists, and detroit diamonds (glass in the road).

They do it all. I have only had two flats in the past six months (compared with many more with my previous cheaper tires). One, which I suspect was a pinch flat, was during an Alley Cat (the worst timing) and the second wasn't actually a flat yet but when I was doing a tune up on my bike I noticed a large piece of glass sheared the tire casing. It hadn't actually popped my tire though and was barely sticking through the casing, but the top few layers were sheared.

I ordered two more of the same tire.

I might also look at Conti Ultra Gator Skins, but not for another 1k miles or so.

Strengths:
Durability. I also like the colors offered. I'm not sure why people are saying that the colors look bad because it makes the tires look dirty. If you're tires don't look dirty then you need to ride your bike more. It seems ridiculous that people would complain that tires get dirty and look "dingey".

Weaknesses:
Definitely a rigid tire, so you tend to feel the bumps. You have to sacrifice comfort for durability in my opinion. I'd rather ride bumpy than have to constantly fix flats.

Similar Products Used:
Conti Sport Contacts on my ATB. These are also great tires.
