    Bike Setup:
    torelli nitro express
    tommasini sentisi

    Summary:
I've ridden all kinds of tires in my days of spirited rec riding at 200 - 230 pounds. I've come to the compromise position of durability, longevity, ride quality in that order. The Michelin Krylion became my fav because it lasted a long time with no flats and had an acceptable ride. The 4000s has the
    longevity, durability and great ride
characteristics. I'm real happy with this tire. I have 2000 miles on my set and the
rear tire still has life in it. The
front looks fairly new. If you can get this tire for $40 or less I think it's a great deal... unless you come across a glass shard with your name on it!

    Strengths:
    this tire has it all!

    Weaknesses:
a racing tire that's durable? Yeah, it'll cost ya.

    Bike Setup:
    Serotta Ottrott with Dura Ace

    Summary:
I have started to have a problem with Contis GP 4000 after 5 mo of ride. Tire sliped off the rim and on close examination I noted crackes from inside, given that plenty of life left on them it is scary.
Also on Conti Gator skin my 26 city slicker, tire blew up in a middle of the night even psi was about 90.
I always liked Coti but my last experience with them scary me.

    Strengths:
    Good rolling resistance, cornering

    Weaknesses:
    Quality

Fast rolling, smooth, puncture resistant, light weight, easy to mount.

Price Paid:  $42.00 at Pro Bike Kit

    Favorite Ride:
    Mile High

    Bike Setup:
Cannondale Synapse carbon, Shimano 105 group, Niobium rims - Sapim Xray spokes, San Marco Zoncolan saddle, Easton EC90 seatpost and bars, Reynolds stem

    Summary:
Over 3,000 miles on this set and still amazed by them (rotated when rear started to square). My other bikes have wider tires (28 and 30) yet the Conti GP 4000 S in 23 mm rides more smoothly (I'm 180 lb., run 100 psi).

Great traction even on wet road. Confidence inspiring on mountain decents.

No flats - that's a first for me. Smooth ride with good road feel.

The first mounting on aero rims (tires heated in 90+F sun) was a bit tough. But when I rotated them at near 2,000 miles the tires were easy to get off and on.

I'm tempted to try some Challenge tires as my bike shop tech says they ride noticeably better. But I've been reading they flat much more easily. Think I'll stick with the Conti GP 4000 S. That Black Chili compound really works!

    Strengths:
    Ride
    Traction
    Road feel
    Puncture resistance
    Nice looking / distinctive
Good value in the long run

    Weaknesses:
MSRP is not cheap ($52) but you can find them on special for $42 on several web sites.

    Price Paid:  $35.00 at PBK

    Favorite Ride:
    Sweaty

    Summary:
Bought a pair of these to replace some aging Ultrasports. Destroyed the rear tire on the third ride after running over the remains of a Snapple bottle. I doubt any tire would have survived, I'm surprised the front did. Replacement rear tire was offered at wholesale by Conti, and it's been running fine since.

    Strengths:
    Light
    Grippy

    Weaknesses:
    Not cheap
    Not impervious to glass

    Ultrasport, Gatorskin
