Tires perform well for first 300 miles, then have problems with tread separation and bulging that ultimately leads to catastrophic failure (blowout). Left me standed on more than one occasion.

    Weaknesses:
tread separation, bulging and blowout, unreliable. DO NOT BUY

    Favorite Ride:
    Broome County Tour of Flanders

    Bike Setup:
    Pedal Force RS
    Ultegra componentry

    Summary:
At first I loved these tires. They seemed to have to suppleness of the Conti 4000 but with the bulletproof toughness of the Vredestein tires. I was all set to make these my tire of choice. However this past week I had a big bulge form on my rear tire. When I looked at the inside it seemed like the threads were seperating from the inside. Very disappointing. But I wonder if they overrated the pressure rating at 130 PSI. It might be better if you run these at 120 PSI.

    Strengths:
    Great Ride. Resistance to flats.

    Weaknesses:
Develops Bulges. Believe there some real safety issues with this tire.

    Bike Setup:
    Cannondale R2000
    Ultegra/Dura Ace
    Ksyrium SL

    Summary:
Do Not Buy - Use if free!
Our team had a sponsorship for 3 years and received the Maxxis Courchevel for free. I've ridden/raced on 15 or so of these tires produced at different times. It's a consistent problem over 3 years that the black center tread separates from the grey tread. This almost always happens before the tire is worn. I've even had these tires tear on the inside and buldge out which rarely happens with my other tires if at all. Maxxis makes OTHER great tires but not these. Please, stay away as there are better tires out there. If you get them for free, use them but make sure and consistently check for separation or you may not be racing for a while.

    Strengths:
    Decent grip on fresh tires

    Weaknesses:
    Tread seperation
    Cost/Lifespan
    Bulging
