a Commuter
from Date Reviewed: April 4, 2008
Strengths: Won't flat, long wearing, reflective.Weaknesses: Heavy, harsh, slow.Bottom Line: There is one reason to purchase the Armidillo tires -- they are as tough as a car tire. I have used every type of tire made, from 120 g tubulars to 1500 g downhill mtb tires. For my commuter bike, nothing beats these tires. If you do not want flats, and don't care about weight, ride quality, or speed, get these tires. The reflective strips are a bonus for commuters, too, where you need all the visibility you can get. Mine are 25 mm nominal size, but are really about 28 mm wide. My 5 star rating takes into account their intended use -- commuting.
Favorite Ride: daily commute
Price Paid:
$42.00
Purchased At: Specialized website
Similar Products Used: Conti Gatorskins -- which feel like race tires compared to the Armidillos, but flat more.
Bike Setup: Soma Extra Smooth, set up for commuting with a rear rack, trunk bag, cowhorns, 1x10 gears, lots of lighting.
