$0.00 Summary: Well . . . there are certainly good things about this tyre. Despite being very narrow at 700x20, they ride surprisingly smooth. They also corner very well and descend like a rocket. This is all true regardless if you run the tyres at 110psi or 145. I have yet to race on them, but despite their low weight, they feel especially slow to me. I don't know why. It maybe because my Vittoria Diamante Pro Lights were incredibly fast, but I, along with those I ride with, have certainly felt a speed damper. When riding with a group, my pulls have been shorter, slower and more exhausting. I've had friends tell me my wheelset also feels much slower with these tyres.
Being very narrow and able to ride at very high pressure for a clincher, I was hoping for something different. Strengths: Great ride. Precise handling. Tough. Decent on the climbs. Weaknesses: Feel tremendously slow on flats and solo pulls. They seem to have tremendous amounts of rolling resistance. Similar Products Used: Vittoria Diamante Pro Light

at Probikekit.com Favorite Ride: Willowdale & GV training crit Bike Setup: Cannondale System Six w/American Classic sprinter 350 wheels. Summary: Have raced on these tires 4 times...crits and road races...along with some fast training rides. Overall an EXCELLENT tire so far. Using for racing clincher...very light, very smooth, very fast. Great example of an "open tubluar" ride quality when paired with latex tubes. Used to race tubulars...these are comparable. Strengths: Very light, very smooth, very fast.
High pressure...high thread count Weaknesses: None yet. Hard to mount...but well worth the effort. Similar Products Used: Practically everything on the market. Latest...Hutchenson Fusion Comp

at Ribble Favorite Ride: Anywhere in the glorious Peak District Bike Setup: Colnago Dream B-Stay with full Chorus and Neutron wheels. Veloflex Corsa tyres, Brooks Swallow saddle Summary: I bought these tyres to finish of my new Colnago. I looked at just about every tyre going but none seemed to offer the weight advantage and incredibly high PSI rating that these tyres do.
Once I'd struggled to mount them (ignore the bit in the instructions saying to hand mount them - if you can get these onto a pair of Campy Neutrons without the use of levers let me know) and pumped them up to the max 135psi I haven't looked back.
They're very quick to get up to speed weighing only 160g and they just roll forever. Cycling on them is just a joy - cornering is superb wet or dry. Add that to the fact that they're a traditional made hand spun tyre and you're onto a winner.
The reason they're called 'Open Tubulars' is becuase they're made in exactly the same way as a tub but they're not sown together. This accounts for their fantastic rolling resistance. Strengths: Light, fast, high pressure rating. Hand made, no more expensive than other top end tyres.
Most of the advantages of the Veloflex Record with better durability Weaknesses: Difficult to mount on some wheels. Similar Products Used: Various Vittoria tyres
