Vittoria Diamante Pro II is Safe on all kinds of asphalt and really fast. This is the state-of-the-art of modern bicycle tyre construction. The casing is a 220 TPI nylon wonder (Vittoria exclusive) and has got an Integra bead-to-bead puncture protection.
Vittoria Diamante pro tires lack in two of the most important categorys of a tire. Durability, and grip. Most tires are comprable when it comes to grip in dry conditions, so I like a tire that performs well when its wet. After having the front wheel slide out from under me the Diamantes gave me a very uneasy feeling when the roads were wet. Also after around 500 miles the sidewall on the rear had about an inch of rubber missing and the threads were exposed. In my experience Vittoria tires are overpriced, and over rated. I've made a switch from my beloved Vittoria Corsa Open clinchers to the Diamante II tyres. I just don't want to spend over $120 on a pair of tyres though they ride so nice.
