Strengths: "All-arounder"
Inexpensive
Nice road feel
Durable
Moderate weightWeaknesses: NoneBottom Line: I was initially attracted to the Volante because I liked the Fortezza's ride characteristics but could not deal with a flat every two or so weeks and their terrible wet weather performance. So I went with the volante, a training tire version of the Fortezza.
Unlike some of the other reviewers I've been rather impressed by them. They're not great tires, but I have had little to no flats with them after riding several pairs on several bikes over the past three or so years. They have relatively low rolling resistance for training tire, no flat problems /issues (in fact, I would say they are rather flat resistent), and they offer the pattented Vredestien feel. meaning, they are kind of like tubulars in that they are rounded from bead to bead instead of having a typical sidewall and pronounced tread. This is unique to Vredestein, and provides a distinct feeling (I don't know that it is an advantage over other tires, but it is different and nice.) They also offer high milage. In wet weather, they are not great, but they are on par with other tires I've tried, with the exception of those meant to offer good wet weather performance.
I can't say anything bad about these tires at all. However, they are not really standouts in any particular area. They're not great wet weather performers, they don't offer the lowest possible rolling resistance, they're not the lightest, or the most puncture resistant, but they're decent in all categories.....All-arounders.
If you are seeking a light, low rolling resistance race tire, look elsewhere; If you want a really tough blowout proof tire, look elsewhere; If you want a tire that is super sticky in all weather conditions, look elsewhere. What the Volante offers is a good performing tire in all categories at an affordable price.
I'm not sure what the other reviewers are comparing the Volante too, or what they expect from such a tire, but I would not hesitate to recommend it for what it is. Just don't try and stick it on a race bike and complain about it being heavy and slow compared to race tires, or put it on a commuter and call it short-lived and vulnerable to punctures.

is a nice feeling at firstthem for several years of the price and the desire to try a different brand.

Strengths: Cheap at $8. These were the folding tires from Supergo, all-black. Sticky rubber. No flats.Weaknesses: Short life, casing wore through about 800 miles. That's just over a week's riding.Bottom Line: Very short lived tires, the cord was showing through multiple bald spots before 800 miles. The only tire I have used that wore out before Hutchinson Carbon Comps from Performance, which lasted about 1000 miles. Stick with Michelins or Vittorias.

Strengths: quality product for the priceWeaknesses: I am running at 110 lbs, still not a ton of feelBottom Line: Can't really complain, but can't give them a ton of compliments either. Just getting off of my mtn bike and back on my road bike for the Summer season. After 400 miles, I am ok with these, but know there are better products out there --- if you want to pay for them.

Strengths: good bang for the buckWeaknesses: they are not light. but they arent race tires either sooooooooo.Bottom Line: I have a set of these and really like them. I think maybe the same person wrote the first two reviews? They are cheap tires. I bought them just to see what the brand was like. They have a good feel to them and I have about 1,000 miles on them and have NEVER had a cut, no flats and they wear like iron. HONEST. I plan of getting their top of the line tire now. Even though they arent light they feel good sorta springy even at around 130#.

Similar Products Used: Continental grand prix. I put many miles on these, and have gladly put my old, somewhat worn conti's back on, with a resultant huge improvement in the ride! I got the Vreds as part of an upgrade package for my bike. Anyone want them?
Bike Setup: Specialized Epic carbon fiber frame (1992) with aluminum Direct Drive fork, all new 105. Great ride for me (6'0, 150 lbs)
