Price Paid:  $600.00 at LBS

Favorite Ride:
fast 50

Bike Setup:
ultegra race bike

Summary:
These wheels have been nothing but trouble. They are impossible to keep trued, every other ride they require touching up. I ride only asphault and am not a hammer, I try to ride carefully. Also the bearings will not stay adjusted.

Strengths:
light

Weaknesses:
flex too much, fall apart.

Similar Products Used:
I have numerous wheel sets from mavic, ritchey, campy all better.

Price Paid:  $0.00 at pro-deal

Bike Setup:
Ti frame, Shimano Ultegra and XTR components, Reynolds carbon fork, AmClassic Sprint 350 650c w/s

Summary:
Previous wheelset attached to this bike setup had some very heavy hoops with Ultegra hubs. Installed the AmClassic wheels (without the ceramic bearings) and ride was noticeably smoother. All the benefits of a quality wheelset were immediately apparent - stiff responsiveness in the turns, quick acceleration due to a lot less rotational mass, and a smooth ride. The more time I spend on the bike, the more I appreciate this wheelset.

I literally lost 8/10 of a pound moving to the new wheelset. I can only guess how much rotational weight was lost, but I bet it was a lot.

Sprint 350 650c w/skewers, Bontrager tubes, and Michelin ProRace tires:
front = 900 grams, rear = 1390 grams, pair = 2290 grams

Strengths:
Lightweight, stiff, responsive, ultra-smooth ride.

Weaknesses:
more expensive than a previous set that was purchased a couple of years ago

Price Paid:  $0.00 at Alki Bike & Board

Favorite Ride:
Anywhere and everywhere

Bike Setup:
2008 KHS Flite Team w/ Dura Ace group.

Summary:
These wheels came stock on my KHS Flite Team. I must say I am very impressed they ride great, are very light weight and quite strong.

Strengths:
Literally strength is the strength. Purchase my Flite Team and about 4 months later got in a head on crash with a car (her fault, stupid old woman...) the front wheel did not survive but I was absolutely amazed how well the wheel faired.

Weaknesses:
can't think of any

Price Paid:  $800.00 at Glorycycles.com

Favorite Ride:
Sat. morning 38 mi. loop

Bike Setup:
Giant TCR carbon, 58 cm. Campagnolo Record, Selle Italia flite, Ritchey WCS aluminum bar and stem. Bike is 2 years old.

Summary:
I bought these wheels about two weeks ago and they are a big improvement in the ride over my other wheels, which are Mavic Ksyrium SSC SLs. The Mavics are much stiffer than these. However these wheels are just as fast as I time my rides. I am actually a little faster! I also weighed both sets and the American Classic front wheel is slightly lighter by 30 grams. The rear wheels are the same weight. These wheels look good also. Both sets have ceramic bearings, which are the way to go, if you can spring for the extra $200. You can tell a difference with these bearings.

Strengths:
Fast, good looking, light wheels. Uses standard spokes. Nice price.

Weaknesses:
I have found no weaknesses yet.

Similar Products Used:
Mavic Ksyrium SSC SL clinchers. Campagnolo Vento clinchers.

Price Paid:  $300.00 at bikes direct

Favorite Ride:
50 milers with moderate climbs

Bike Setup:
Various bikes in various configurations. Notably Merckx Team SC, Look KG231, Cannondale R2000si

Summary:
I have used a set of 350 for 3 years and a set of 420 for two year previous. I did have to initially replace the front bearing on both wheelsets, although I understand they got this bug figured out. AM classic will send the shop the bearing, but you have to have a shop install it yourself. Cost met $20 each time. Good brake pads are a must. Shimano pads will tear the rims up. Either Kswiss or a softer Kool Stop pad works well.
Once these hassles were taken care of these wheels have been favorites. Very light and stiff enough, though they aren't hard riding like the Ksyriums can be. Because it's windy where I ride, I like the low profile and lack of bladed spokes. I ride them year around, rain or shine. I have to true them once or twice a year, but I have had to true every other wheel set about that much too. Truing has been easy (once I bought a cheap stand from Performance.)

Strengths:
Light and comfortable, hubs are remarkably light. I am currently quite happy with them.

Weaknesses:
Older bearing were not reliable, and the rims require high end (soft) pads. They lack the bling of carbon or the shine of silver K's
