at eBay Bike Setup: Colnago C40, Dura Ace, Zero Gravity, 3T ErgoSum, Specialized Toupe Summary: After going through many different wheelsets these have stuck around in my top five. First off I lucked out on my purchase - eBay is hit and miss - this was a hit for sure.
They are light clinchers - mine tip the scales at 1364. Now if you are saying to yourself "I can get aluminum wheels right around 1400 grams without breaking the bank!" well you're right, but read on. These wheels are quite a killer package.
First angular contact bearing hubs plus ceramic bearings make for unmatched smoothness and durability. Like all Campy hubs there is alot more to them than pretty much every other hub on the market - and of course the hub shells are carbon too so chalk up some more coolness points (if you are trying to out-carbon your riding buddies this can be useful).
The overal lightness of the wheels mean they respond quickly to power but what has impressed me is the stiffness that they also have. Unlike so many lightweights these wheels are not flexy hoops that will terrify you as you rip down a canyon pass. Braking in very good with Swiss Stop Yellow pads - but not quite as good as the newest Zipp wheels with the same pads.
Lastly they are durable. Case in point I was riding in Flagstaff, AZ this summer on a route I had never personally ridden and came across a stretch of missing pavement due to construction. Four miles of it total. One carbon water bottle cage self destructed and I got one flat on this stretch of dirt and rocks. The Hyperons were fine - they didn't even come out of true. I have to say I wouldn't recommend off-roading on carbon rims but it was enlightening. Strengths: Pretty light, killer quality, durable Weaknesses: Internal nipples are a bit of a pain - but not a deal breaker with clinchers. Full retail, like the national debt, astonishes the mind.
