Continental tubulars. Now Dt Swiss RRC 1250's Summary: I am 50, I began riding on tubular tires when I was 12.
My first race bike was a Raleigh Pro. I saved for what seemed forever to buy that beauty. I have watched clincher wheel and tire design improve over the years to what it is today. I tried many out many of the latest versions of clincher wheels hoping to find one that would give me the satisfaction of a tubular ride. It was always the same, the difference between old bias ply tires on my Dad's Oldsmobile and the radials on my Porsche.
Until today. A good friend sent me a set of the DT Swiss RRC1250 wheels to try out. I keep a set of Gommitalia Targa K's around to try out different brands of clinchers. So I set them up and went out for a ride. WOW, just WOW, smooth, responsive, a great tactile feel of the road, stiff, sprints like I just stole them, and so comfortable. I am just so impressed with the road manners and effortless feel of instantaneous forward motion. The RRC 1250's corner like they are on rails. These wheels are pure smoke. I still will always ride tubulars. But now I have a outstanding alternative. Nice Job DT Swiss ! A really great product that will last a lifetime. They will give you a serious rush every time you ride them. Clinchers ! WOW !
I am impressed. Strengths: Strength, stiffness, comfort, handling, finesse, ceramic bearing hubs, durability of DT Swiss products, design and build quality. Just an Outstanding product. Weaknesses: Price, but you do get what you pay for from DT Swiss.
Best hubs, spokes and rims on the planet. Similar Products Used: Just about everything high end Mavic has made, why the bushing on the cassette ?, bearings to expensive ? I hate that. Zipp carbon with junk hubs, fine Easton products, Easton makes great carbon wheels btw, Fulcrum, Campagnolo, FSA early carbon tubulars. Rolf, That's about it.
