These wheels are Fulcrum's variation on Campagnolo's Hyperon but without the carbon bodied hugs (all the same company).
These wheels are on a completely different playing field, and should be considering their cost. They are perhaps one of the best all round wheels you can buy. Very fast - very strong and yes, you can climb in a cog or two lower than normal. They are great for climbing but also great on the flats.
In a Velonews review last year of the Hyperon's, they were nearly on a par with Zipp 202's for the air cheating abilities.
I use Koolstop yellow carbon pads with Zero Gravity brakes and can tell you they stop! Strengths: Strong, light, fantastic to look at, one of the best rims made (tubular), smooth.
You can have total confidence that once a good glue bond has been made, these will not roll off. Weaknesses: Expensive and not sure about the availability of spokes. Similar Products Used: Campagnolo Proton, Campagnolo Neutron, Mavic Ksyrium, Mavic Open Pros, Reynolds DT46, DT Swiss Mon Chasseral.
