Bike Setup: 2003 Black Fade 52cm KM40 Airfoil frame set w/ Kestrel Pro EMS 650c bladed carbon fork , Carbon X tri-bar setup with Dura Ace bar end shifters, Ultegra cranks, derailleurs, HED DEEP rear 650c, HED Jet front 650c, carbon bladed seatpost and Flite saddle, XLab rear bottle/gadget holder.
Summary: I have the tubular, 650c version. Very light and aero... no problem with crosswinds... Love em!
Strengths: Light and aero
Weaknesses: It's light design makes them feel like they would not last for long.

Bike Setup: Kestrel 200 with EMS fork, Ultegra 9 speed, Hed Deeps front and rear
Summary: These wheels have been an excellent investment. Take care of the hubs and they will provide you years of good service. While they are pricy, they are cheaper than many of the other deep dish wheels out there. Look at the HED website, they usually have seconds available.
Strengths: I purchased these as factory seconds from Bicycle Sports at the St Anthonys Triathlon about 4 years ago. HED hubs and ti-spokes - spoke holes were a little too large where the spokes entered the rim, a defect that saved me a couple hundred dollars on the set. Over the course of numerous print triathlons and 1 Iron distance race they have proved light, fast, and stiff. Last fall, I had some probems with the hubs and sent them to HED and ended up with new wheels for about $150 - excellent customer service and fast return.
Weaknesses: Some flaking of the crome on the hubs occurred rather soon after purchase, but this issue was cosmetic only. About 6 months ago both the hubs cracked, one along the spoke holes and the other along the hub body. I credit this to the salty conditions of coastal FL more than to an actual defect - HED rebuilt both wheels for $150.
