Strengths:    Super Aerodynamic

Weaknesses:    None

Bottom Line:
The people at HED originated this technology that is ubiquitous in the industry today. These wheels have been stellar for season after season. I own three sets of these wheels. I had a set created for my tandem. The rims are strong, the hubs are flawless and maintenance is a breeze.

I cannot imagine paying hundreds more for Mavics or Reynolds, knowing that the technology and the construction is not sufficiently different. The added cost is JUST NOT WORTH IT.

Strengths:    Super fast wheelset in all wind conditions. Pretty much indestructible.

Weaknesses:    A little on the heavy side at 1850 grams, but about the same as Zipp 808's or Hed Jet 90's.

Bottom Line:
This review is for the Hed H3 (trispoke) clinchers.
Fantastic wheel in all wind conditions (gets pretty windy in Southwest Florida).
Strong, very aero, brake well, hold speed better than any wheel I've ever had.

Strengths:    Light and aero

Weaknesses:    It's light design makes them feel like they would not last for long.

Bottom Line:
I have the tubular, 650c version. Very light and aero... no problem with crosswinds... Love em!

Strengths:    I purchased these as factory seconds from Bicycle Sports at the St Anthonys Triathlon about 4 years ago. HED hubs and ti-spokes - spoke holes were a little too large where the spokes entered the rim, a defect that saved me a couple hundred dollars on the set. Over the course of numerous print triathlons and 1 Iron distance race they have proved light, fast, and stiff. Last fall, I had some probems with the hubs and sent them to HED and ended up with new wheels for about $150 - excellent customer service and fast return.

Weaknesses:    Some flaking of the crome on the hubs occurred rather soon after purchase, but this issue was cosmetic only. About 6 months ago both the hubs cracked, one along the spoke holes and the other along the hub body. I credit this to the salty conditions of coastal FL more than to an actual defect - HED rebuilt both wheels for $150.

Bottom Line:
These wheels have been an excellent investment. Take care of the hubs and they will provide you years of good service. While they are pricy, they are cheaper than many of the other deep dish wheels out there. Look at the HED website, they usually have seconds available.
