    Strength:

Good for 3 years, no problems at all, very strong wheels.

    Weakness:

One simple crack in the hub and now usesless.

Good wheels up to yesterday when the front hub did crack (were the straight spokes are connected) Now absoluut useless and very disapointed with the product quality.

    Strength:

Super smooth hubs (even after 3 plus years), never trued in same amount of time and have held up over some tough roads.

    Weakness:

Probably weight, tech geeks will want lighter more aero wheels.

Until recently I was employed on and living on a yacht that spent most of the time in the Caribbean...which ment lots of third world riding on dubious roads. Not having much room to store equipment ment only one choice of wheels, and what a great choice. NEVER needed service in 3 years! ( Although I'm sure the hubs could use a scheduled service by now....)Light enough to race on and tough enough to train on...even cyclo-cross....I just bought a pair of Rolf Vector Pro's and after reading the reviews I'm switching back to the Classics Pro's.

Strong, cushy, reasonably stiff, stay true. A very strong wheel.v

    Weakness:

A little heavy, but role great with momentum.

Mavic Open Pros: I put these wheels on as an alternative set to my Campy Neutrons. They are heavier, but very strong and stay true. Although they do not accelerate quite as quickly as the Neutrons, they are very responsive and very comfortable to ride. They are very stable on steep descents. The Neutrons are stiffer and thus, not as cushy as the Open Pros.

    Strength:

None really. They have been fine after retensioning, but no real strengths.

    Weakness:

Frequent truing until retensioning. Hubs are heavy. Cannot be changed to Campy cassette body (I switched to 10s, and had to retire these wheels).

I''''ve had problems keeping these true, which a retension by a local builder solved. Other then that they have been fine, but heavier than the Dura Ace - Open Pro wheelset they replaced.

    Strength:

Seem strong, don't go out of true, ride well, reasonably stiff

    Weakness:

Straight-pull spokes are hard to true (you need vice grips to keep the spoke from turning sometimes) and wheels are under very high tension: don't break a spoke!

Jury is out on these wheels. I have two pairs from buying two different used bikes. One wheelset has been extremely durable: They came used, and I have put at least 2000km on them: they have stayed true, and ride very nice. The other wheelset has been crap: I broke a spoke, and the wheel was under such tension that it was an instant taco (rear wheel). That wheelset looked to have been nearly new when I started riding it, but of course, I don't know it's history. I am currently rebuilding it, and hopefully I can get it back up to tension. I may need a new rim to boot, which adds up. From what I have heard from others, this is a bomber wheelset for most people, although I only weigh 64kg, so they may be overkill for me. I will rate the wheelset based on the ones I am currently riding (non tacoed!) At the equivalent price I paid when they came on my used bike, $300, they are a great set. I don't know that I would shell out $549 for them, though. It seems that Mavic has some troubles with their build quality coming from the factory: If purchasing new (or used) take the wheels to your best wheelbuilder (the guy who has laced 1000 pairs of wheels) and have him rebuild your wheel for $25 bucks. I guarantee that they will last ten times longer! I would think that a super-light standard wheel with the lightest of everything would be more reliable than ANY pre-build wheel from Mavic: that has been my experience!

    Strength:

Super durable and stiff. Instant engagement from the freehub, and super smooth bearings.

    Weakness:

A little bit heavy for racing, but great for training and abusive rides or riders. Pricey.

I would definately recommend them to a harder rider, or for a Cyclocross bike, which I have used them on too and not had any problems. I'm actually looking forward to the day when the rim wears out because I'm pretty excited to have them laced into an Open Pro with double butted spokes and alloy nipples, or lacing them into a 517 for my mountain bike, because I really like the hubs alot. They are a bit spendy for what you get though. Custom wheels are cheaper and work just as well.

    Strength:

    Bombproof lightweight road bike wheels
Great spoking arrangement, great hubs and relatively light
I have had these wheels now for 2 years, (they are the original stainless spoked version)
I did a bit of trueing just to get them really sweet after a year, but apart from that they have needed nothing at all.
I like them because I feel that they are so strong, and I don't ride so fast that I notice the lack of aerodynamics or weight. They are as classy a set of ordinary wheels this side of Zipp 101s. Which are next on the shopping list.

    Weakness:

The only complaint I have is that after a 40 mile wet hilly reliability trial the blocks wore down so much that they overlapped onto the anodised surface. Not really anything more than cosmetic, and I was annoyed at first, but hey it is just a bit of evidence of the extreme nature of the event
The stickers are peeling off, so I will just remove them like I usually do with all stickers. (I hate stickers normally, I don't know why I put up with them for so long)

Can't do much better, although a handbuilt pair of quality wheels is as good, probably for a bit less money.
Just a good workmanlike set of wheels with oodles of class. (look inside the rear hub - almost like a rolex, and still spotlessly clean after two years use)
Great wheels for anyone who wants to jump on their roadbike and ride over all sorts of roads all day long. Comfortable too, much better than deep rimmed wheels

These wheels are unbeatable . I am 27 and ive been riding since i was 12. I have never had anything so strong. at 6 feet tall my racing weight is about 170 but in the winter i plump up to a piggy 200 pounds hahah. I have ridden the hell outta these wheels and i have had them checked and they are as perfect as the day i got them even with my weight being heavy in winter!

    Weakness:

None that i can see "really no joke"! If you want a wheel thats techno light get a helium. But remember if you are heavy you need stronger wheels. I dont recomend a helium to anyone over 165 pounds but thats "my opinion". the Calssics pro are by no means heavy but if you are looking for scary light wheels these are not for you.

As i said. these wheels are tough. I have seen these wheels in pictures of the paris roubaix bike race they are really used by the pros, what you will but is the same thing the pro's will have. And if i can ride them hard at 200 pounds to 170 pounds anyone can. if you ever get the chance you will notice if you spin them in your hands the hubs are independant on each side from each other. They are the smoothest wheels ive ever had. For all they boast they are very light. Again not a helium but I would bet allot of money that if you were to fall on set classics pros vs heliums in a crash the classics pro's ou would still be able to ride probably. Price? I think its very fair. The hubs are FTS, the way they are laced makes them super strong. These are not ordinary wheels. they are top quality. I am going to get another pair actually. I assure you if you get a pair you will rave about them as much as i have!

    Happy Cycling!

    Stays true.

    Weakness:

Hubs are not really good. They spin well and easily, but after about 500 miles, they started to make a lot of noise. Rebuilds and repacks by myself AND by bike shops have not been able to fix it. Each build gets about 100 miles of quiet, then the noise starts again. This noise is really loud.

The noise is so annoying it makes me hate riding them. I wish I had not purchased them. I have decided that I love Mavic rims, but will never purchase another complete wheelset from them.

I love these wheels. After buying a used Cannondale a few years back that had 24 spoke wheels in typical Cannondale fashion, I decided that I needed some more durable wheels. I selected Classics Pros and have never regretted the decision. I weigh 200 lbs. and in two years have had to do touch-up truing only once. I have had many rough rides where I feared wheel damage and they always escape unscathed.

I just got a LeMond Zurich and after 25 miles on the stock Rolf Vector Comps decided to swap wheels between my Cannondale and the LeMond. The ride difference was pronounced. Now I have a sweet-riding steel frame with wheels to match and whoever I sell my Cannondale to has nice (new) stiff wheels to match the frame (ha ha).

I have had no problems of any sort and the only planned maintenance is an eventual rebuild with blue Open Pros to match the new bike once the original rims show too much wear. In short unless you are looking for the absolute lightest wheelset, you can't go wrong with these as a heavy-duty training wheelset that can also be used for racing especially on less smooth road surfaces.
