Mavic Cosmic Carbone 40C Pro Review

What the new Mavic Cosmic Carbone 40C does deliver is reliable braking performance and claimed long-term durability. And that’s something that should not be understated. When you fully trust that a wheel is going to perform exactly the way you want it to, you’ll be more willing to dive hard into corners and open up the throttle on long downhill descents. That equals increased speed, which is what we’re all chasing at the end of the day. Continue reading →

Strengths:    Low weight
Aero
Easy to bring up t o speed.

Weaknesses:    Braking

Bottom Line:
Acceleration, the wheel feels very lively. Able to pick up and maintain high speeds above 20 MPH without feeling the rotational weight. Good in cross winds. The wheels climb very nice, again the light rotational weight helps. Hit some major holes with out having to get the wheels trued.
The wheels clean up nice, the yellow mark from the pads clean off easily with windex.

Braking.... It takes a firm pull from the brake levers to bring the bike to a stop.
I have ridden them for 1000 miles, its not the same feel you would get from an alloy surface.
Its a small price to pay for such good all around performance.
