Strengths:    Solid bombproof, hubs fantastic, aero.

Weaknesses:    cross winds (not so bad in moderate wind but heavy winds hold on!)

Bottom Line:
I had a pair of new Open Pro CD rims recently purchase for my Colnago C50. I always thougth the Open Pro rims were completely riliable and a great wheeel. I have owned them before and never had to true the rims. They took massive beatings and always stayed true. Not true for the 2012 Open Pros! I took them back to my LBS and looked at options. The salesperson suggested the Cosmic Elites. I took them for a spin the first day on a massively wind day (25mph crosswind) and it practically blew me off the bike.

Forward to next day...Calm winds about 5-8 mph and rode 40 miles. I have to say it was a completely different experience. The Cosmic Elites are fantastic! The ride on my C50 has been transformed all for the better. Funny how from one wheel to the next how it can affect handling. The Elites are stiff, and that meant some degredation on the smooth road feel the C-50 is know for, however the Elites more than make up for that in the handling department. Totally straight as an arrow, rock solid handling. Some say the weight on these wheels are heavy. At nearly 1800 grams they are, but I don't notice it in the legs. One of the great things on the elites is that the hubs spin, spin, spin fast! Coasting is so much faster it is laughable. I would be spinning at 16mph easy, turn the cranks a couple of times up to 19mph and just back off and let it coast...which seemed to last forever. I have never had a set of wheels that coasted so well. Amazing. Cornering is wonderful on these. Everything about them is stellar. So what, they weight half a pound more than some lighter wheels! Go to the gym and build up those quads and shed a few pounds to make up for the wheels! The wheel weight does not affect the ride, and I am not racing, or get paid to do such. Those that do may think otherwise of these wheels.

The handling is superb, and would highly recommend these, but the aesthetics are equally as impressive. My bike is black carbon with white graphics. The Elites are a perfect match with white decals, bladed black spokes. Couldn't be happier.

Strengths:    bombproof, smooth hubs and looks

Weaknesses:    little on the heavy side

Bottom Line:
If you looked at reviews online you will see the same thing over and over...these wheels are heavy or they are not as good as such and such wheel.

Are there lighter or more aero wheels out there? You bet. But is you budget $500 or is it $1,500? If you are just looking at wheels in this price range than you should easily put these at the top of you list.

The wheels are more aero over most OEM wheelsets and lighter (by only a couple 100 grams) than my wheels that came with the bike. But the hubs are smooth and the wheels are bombproof. So for a modest price I have upgraded my stock wheels to something that is lighter, more aero, and look better (don't lie to yourself and say looks don't matter).

Strengths:    Looks, build and faster acceleration.

Weaknesses:    None that I've found at the moment.

Bottom Line:
I purchase a set from a private seller. The wheels weight about 1770 grams for the set and while not the lightest they are lighter then my old Mavic XP21 set. The rear hub seems to spin forever and the overall quality/design of the wheels is very nice and sleek. I purchased the set primarily based on looks but found that they do accelerate faster then my old set. I'm not sure if this is due to the design or rear hub. Breaking surface is great and provides plenty of feedback.
