Summary:
I truly rediscovered this wheelset just yesterday. I've been using them on my carbon Giant TCR for more then a year after I got them for 5.000 japanese yen(US $45) from a friend of mine. I got the first version (silver rims).Then I bought new wheelset Spinergy Stealth PBO(deep dish carbon rims) and stopped using my shimanos.

I bought new bike,Cervelo soloist team, and developed some creaking i thought is comming from a rear wheel on my Spinergy's. So here we go, I put this old shimano wheelset on again, just to see if this creaking is still there (it wasn't the wheel but cleats on the shoes) and I just couldn't believe what happened! The combination of aluminium cervelo and this old wheelset is unbelievably FAST and comfortable on the same time. Acceleration is quick or faster then ever before and they keep speed very well also. You would think that deep carbon rims are quick, fast comfy....shimano 7700 dura ace outperform these by a mile! As other reviewer mentioned, these wheels can be fine tuned to riders weight or riding style. Once we dialed in higher spoke tension this wheels just jump.

I am really happy i didn't get rid of them. Just try to dial in high spoke tension and you'll see how quick these wheels can be.

Strengths:
very qiuck acceleration, dura ace hubs are smooooooth and roll better then anything I've tried, they keep speed very well

Weaknesses:
none really, just wipe them clean after the rain as spokes can catch a rust very quickly.

Summary:
I dont know what all the complaining is about with Flex, or truing etc. I am 6'1" and 205lbs. I ride over 4000 miles a year and have put 6000 plus miles on these wheels myself. I dont even know how many miles the wheels had on them before I bought the set. I love the look, wheel weight is fine, not too light to be quirky, but not to heavy to dread climbing. I have only had to true these wheels ONCE in 6000 plus miles. And this is great considering my weight and I ride a ton on Alabama county highways and backroads. I dont feel ANY abnormal flex. Most wheels flex somewhat and these are in my opinion well balanced between flex and stiffness. I would highly recommend to the above average weight rider (180-220).

Strengths:
Look, durability, buttery smooth hubs.

Weaknesses:
NONE in my opion, besides Shimano not making these models anymore.

Summary:
I bought these because I was looking for a solid yet light wheelset. I got 50% of what I was looking for. These wheels are very aerodynamic, and they are very solid, ESPECIALLY since there are only 16 spokes.... however, going up hills is a tough experience given the weight of the rims. (we did manage to survive though)

Strengths:
SOLID! Great bearings, they rolled just as smooth after I hit a storm drain @ 30 MPH and crashed as they did when they were new... (guy came up behind me and blasted his horn. I lost focus, and hit the storm drain, flew over my handlebars, and was picking gravel out of my chest for 45 minutes.....)

Weaknesses:
a bit pricey for the weight, but these wheels will last forever if you don't crash with them!

Summary:
Exceptional ride. Stable past 45 mph. Accelerates quickly and seems to roll forever. Climbs gracefully. Handles the Pacific crosswinds easily. Seem very quiet next to my Open Pro CDs.

Funny hearing others say "did you not pay in full - you appear to be missing spokes"

Approx 4K miles on this wheelset w/ no problems whatsoever.
5'5", 145 lbs.

Strengths:
Looks, aerodynamics, acceleration, stiffness, roll

Weaknesses:
Service? Haven't had to, but, definitely not as "common" as (e.g.) Ksyriums.

'98 GT Fury with bladed carbon fork that is SUPER stiff 6061 aluminum

Summary:
My first impression was, "They're ok but not great." Then I found that the ride can be "tuned" by adjusting spoke tension. Once the shop dialed in the higher tension (I am a bigger ride at 6'2" and 220 lbs.), the wheels just jumped. I have put about 100 miles on them and would recommend them for someone looking for a high-end wheel. This ain't your father's wheelset...for serious riders only!

Strengths:
responsive; not affected by cross-winds; quick and responds to slight adjustments by the rider; stable at high speed (30+ mph) and on descents; though stiff when needed, they are not a harsh as my old Rolfs; can be tuned to the rider; silky smooth hubs; interchangeable Shimano parts

Weaknesses:
one must be willing to take some time to get the ride adjusted and have a shop that knows what they are doing
