Strengths: Stiff (but not harsh)and light
Very responsive
Did I say light? 1265 grams for a pair of aluminum clinchers with rim tape!Weaknesses: none so farBottom Line: This is my 8th wheelset from Dave at Speeddream wheels, and just like all the others, this set does not dissapoint! In the past 13+ years Dave has built all types of wheels for me, from mountain to road to track and all have been flawless, his attention to detail is second to none...
This wheelset is a pair of Alchemy ELF / ORC Hubs laced via Sapim CX Ray spokes to Stans Alpha 340 Rims. The front is 18 hole radial laced and the rear is 28 hole laced 2x non drive, 3x drive side (drive side rear wheel spokes are double butted but not cx rays).
These wheels are surprisingly stiff for their weight and very responsive. They hold their speed well on the flats and climbing with them has been excellent.
I work part time at a bike shop and have access to ride many different types of wheels....Daves always outperform the others....no matter what the price point!

Strengths: Smooth and absorb bumps and vibrations. Supposed to be good climbers but I have not had a chance to test that yet. Probably added about .5 miles per hour to my average speed due to lighter weight and White Industries hubs. The Veloplugs - highly recommended - make it very easy to install and remove tires and don't wear out like rim tape.Weaknesses: None really.Bottom Line: These wheels are smooth rolling and absorb bumps and road chatter. Rough stretches and chip and seal are hardly noticeable.

Strengths: Weight -- 1345 grams.
Ride Quality.
Stiffness.
Part selection.
Dave's customer service.
Weaknesses: The bike and wheels are better than the rider.Bottom Line: I'm just a guy in my mid-40's pounding along for mental health and enjoying the physical benefit. The known weak link on my Tarmac was the stock Alex wheels. I wanted a set that were artisan built, unique and reasonalby priced. Found out about Speed Dream from this site. Enjoyed a conversation with Dave Thomas. He listened well and asked intuitive questions. Shortly thereafter, received my set of SD AR-20's equipped with Tune rear hub and American Classic micro front. All black save for the red nipples. Why did I wait? The ride is ethereal. Former bumps are just "kisses". Lateral stiffness is incredible. No more banging the rear brake when out of the saddle. Very stealth looking on my black machine. Am thoroughly pleased.
Favorite Ride: The one that I'm on.

AerodynamicsWeaknesses: None, that's why they are called "Speed Dreams".
Bottom Line: I purchased this wheelset because I already owned a set of Aerolite Velocity Fusion wheels I got from Dave 5 years ago and they have performed without failure. I've ridden them all over Colorado, Belgium, and France. Raced Boulder-Roubaix several times in them. Yes, they can also take the famed belgian cobbles just like the big guys and never came out of alignment. They are perfect for road races, crits, and training. Put a set of Veloflex Paves or Vredestein Fortezzas (145psi) on and you will fly.

Strengths: Light weight and quality build.Weaknesses: NoneBottom Line: I purchased the SD AR 20's with the Tune rear hub. These are great wheels. Very light yet very durable. I have hit potholes and big rocks, yet wheels stay perfectly trued. These wheels beat the expensive factory wheels hands down. I can't say enough good things about Speeddream wheels or Dave Thomas. If you are thinking about getting some high end factory wheels, you would be foolish not to look at these. Read the reveiws, other than a couple of misfits, they are nearly perfect and my experience is the same.
