at LBS Favorite Ride: Seattle To Portland Bike Setup: Stock Summary: My how tandems have changed! I have not seriously ridden tandems for over twenty years. I remember fast but whippy bikes with weak brakes.
This tandem is stiff, but with a comfortable ride. I can stand up in the pedals and moose up a hill while my daughter remains seated without seeing the frame flex! The components are a good mix of Shimano 105 and Deore XT. It's much easier to ride when you can shift the bike from the STI brake levers while pedaling full force. The Tektro Oryx brakes stop the bike much better than cantilevers every did and the frame (and rear wheel) is set up for drum or disc brakes. I cannot wait to ride a few centurys with my family this summer! Strengths: An awesome tandem at a great price. Best in class frame. Good quality components. Weaknesses: Cannondale expert saddle is an as yet unaquired taste. (I've used Ideale leather saddle for 25+ years.) Similar Products Used: Older Paramont tandem, various older French tandems, Cannondale MT800
