at Goodwill Bike Setup: Shimano TX4000 rod and reel combo and Plano plastic tackle box w/ H&H spinnerbaits and Luhr Jensen "Shyster" inline spinner bait. (Who cares about the bike components, they are crappy old low end shimano and suntour anyway). Its also equipped with a ringa dinga ling bell. Summary: I picked this baby up at Goodwill for just $16. No its not a 1999 model, but since there isnt a category for 1987 Jamis Boss Cruiser, this is the closest thing I found, lol. Its amazing that the design of the bikes have not changed much at all. After looking on Jamis' website, the only noticeable differences are now they use aluminum frames w/ a V-brake set up and are available in 7 speeds instead of the 6 speeds my bike has. The seats are still the same as back then, good old "Cheeks" saddle.
Obviously this is just a typical cruiser bike. I particularly like the straight tube style frame over one of those "Cantilever" style cruiser frames. It looks good with my cheapo Kenda knobbies I put on there cuz I already had them from another bike which had gotten street slicks. I spend another $30 on a few odds and ends getting the bike back on the road. Now it serves as a fishin' bike. Thats right, I have one of those cheapie rear racks with a spring trap on top that I strapped a fishing rod holder made out of PVC pipe on to the upright rack support and now I can carry my rod and tackle box. Its just awesome. Strengths: You gotta love that fat a$$ cheeks saddle and those RED aluminum rims (I got 26's on my Jamis YO! Bling Bling!) Weaknesses: Are squeekie saddle springs a weakness or character trait of a 17 year old bicycle? Im also kinda mad that the original "Sand Jam" tires were rotted out. They had seashell tread blocks, it was hella sweet. I would pay big money for set of NOS seashell tires. Hmm I think the only valid weakness is the lack of water bottle bosses. The "Boss" is bossless, how lame. Its nothing a cheap bottle cage and a set of hose clamps cant fix. Besides, the hoseclamps coordinate well with the other hose clamps I so gracefully used to strap my fishing rod holder on the rack with. Similar Products Used: Any bike is a cruiser because its not what you ride but how you ride it. Does this mean I have to lost all my bikes? Ok...I first had a little red trike. Then I got a girls bike when I was 5. The other kids thought it was gay, but I knew I rocked. Then I finally got my 20" Huffy "Racing" bmx bike. Then I ended up with a 24" Murray atb, it sucked when my handlebars snapped when I was doing a wheelie. So then my parents bought me a good bike, haha. Huffy Scout was my first 26" bicycle. I rode that till the freewheel broke. Thats when my uncle gave me his sweet old Diamondback Apex and from then on I never bought another Mart bike. Later I fixed the huffy and it served as a fishing bike. Then I got a 2001 Raleigh M60. So then I started riding to school, I used the Huffy which then the DB became the fishing bike, which was below it. Once my huffy started falling apart, I replaced it with a new 2001 Raleigh M20 for commuting duty (I said duty). Then I bought the Boss to take over the lowly fishing duties. DB came back home. Just recently I bought a 1983 Trek 400 roadie, its sweet. Also, I stole my friend's Haro V1 mtb for $50 since he was moving and needed $. There ya go, my life story
