at LBS Favorite Ride: rolling hills Bike Setup: Stock - upgraded saddle. Summary: I'm a mountain biker who finally realized the way to kick butt on hills was to train on the road. In this part of the country, a road bike comes in handy for spring training - the trails are too mushy anyway. This bike was exactly what I needed for 30-35 mile rides. Strengths: Geometry is awesome for a woman with a long torso. Frame is solid yet absorbs the bumps. Weaknesses: Sometimes catch my pedal in the wheel on a tight turn - just have to be aware of the potential and adjust position accordingly. Shifting up front can be a little dicey when you're in the middle in the back.

at Dave's Bikes Favorite Ride: rolling hills on country roads Bike Setup: 105 rear derailleur; the rest of the components - Tiagra; Easton EC70 carbon fork; Shimano M515 clip Summary: I purchased a hybrid earlier in the season to get back into cycling after a long time away. After a couple of months I found that I was wanted a bike that was light and comfortable on long rides(that was within my budget). The Lemond Tourmalet - women's specific design is just what I was looking for. I tested aluminum framed road bikes and found them too jarring. Then, I tried the Lemond road bikes. Unfortunately, I found that the top tube on the other models left me a bit too stretched out. I then looked at the WSD. The fit was just right. It came with a good, solid frame and entry level components. This bike is light and responsive. I swapped out the stock saddle for a Italia Selle Trans Am and installed a carbon fork. The bike is comfortable on long rides. Plus, the frame is one that I can keep for a while and upgrade components later. Strengths: Frame - upgradeable; 105 rear derailleur; bike fit. Weaknesses: Tiagra front derailleur does not provide consistent shifting between chainrings. Similar Products Used: Tested Specialized Allez and Sirrus; Lemond Alpe D'Huez, Buenos Aires and Zurich.
