Favorite Ride:
around in circles

Bike Setup:
cyclocross but on the road a lot

Summary:
overall I'm happy.
one weakness below

Strengths:
strong - crashed into a car mildly and had to true a bit but that was all.

Weaknesses:
the front rim has a slight bulge on the brake surface I notice when braking. With hard braking it will show up...just when I dont need it. scares me a bit ocassionally.

the black on the rim has become covered in minute crevacise, but I dont look at them too closely too long.
Fit my tires a bit too snug.
Having to find long valve tubes or else getting lucky with the pump.
T
he finish on the spokes also looks poor but it holds up well.
the quick releases aren't tight and I suspect them as being the cause of all-to-common front end slack on many wheelsets I've had. salsa and durace are a sure thing for me. Kyserium skewers were also not tight enought and I replaced them

Similar Products Used:
kyserium (what a sucker I am but they were stiff and strong)
homemade

Price Paid:  $330.00 at Neuvation

Favorite Ride:
COS west side hills and AFA

Bike Setup:
Colnago Mix (Columbus Airplane)
mostly Dura Ace 9sp

Summary:
I bought these wheels because they looked great, are light, and were attractively priced. Shipping was prompt from Neuvation. They spin up fast, climb well and ride fast. They were fairly stable on a 50+ MPH straight descent but got a bit sketchy above 55.

Their downsides are a harsher ride in comparison with Open Pros. They are also tight to mount tires on (Michelin Pro2 Race were a tough combination on this rim). Their most significant disappointment is poor handling. The wheels flex so much that I have to correct my line multiple times in sharp or fast corners which is not confidence inspiring. Since most of my rides include fast descents with corners, this is a big deal for me. I "spoke" with several wheel builders and they all recommended higher spoke-count wheels with larger diameter spokes for good handling. For reference, I weigh about 165#.

If your rides don't include fast corners, this may be a great wheel for you.

Strengths:
thin black spokes look great
very light
climb well

Weaknesses:
poor handling
tight to get tires on
moderately harsh ride

Price Paid:  $0.00 at Neuvation

Favorite Ride:
Anywhere

Bike Setup:
Specialized Roubaix Pro/ Dura Ace.

Summary:
Nothing comes close for the price. There are prettier and more advanced designs, but if you want great hubs, light weight (1510,) and no nonsense performance, look no further. They did need truing out of the box, as some of the spokes were a little loose. However, I'm 180lbs and they are holding up great. Much more rigid and faster than a pricey pair of Spinergy I was riding.

Strengths:
Very responsive acceleration, and climb like crazy. Look like they will hold up well.

Weaknesses:
None for the price.

Mavic, Easton, Spinergy

Price Paid:  $340.00 at neuvation website

Favorite Ride:
long road rides anywhere in the world

Bike Setup:
All Dura Ace and various carbon road frames from Giant and Cannondale

Summary:
I have a set of Mavic ssc sl and Campy Nuetrons. I brought these as a back up pair for training. All I can say is wow! Not as stiff as the Mavic SSC SL but who always wants super stiff. I will say they are lighter than the $1000 I paid for the Mavics and Campy Nuetrons. Zero compliants for the price. Beautiful set of hubs and rims. Plus they send you spare spokes just in case. Mine are still true after 2000 miles. I am buying another set.
PS. Neuvations components are a great deal too!

Strengths:
Real people at Neuvation with the best customer service out there, period!

Weaknesses:
None.
