Profile Design Cobra Wing Carbon Handlebars

DESCRIPTION

Carbon-fiber base bars offer advantages over aluminum not just in terms of greater stiffness and lighter weight, but more freedom in shaping. This means the wing can be longer, the transition to the horns smoother, and the shaping throughout better designed to fit your hands. Profile Design's Cobra Wing Base Bar does all this, and has internal cable routing to boot. The bars have a 31.8mm center section for greater stiffness. There are three widths to the bars, each one has a slightly different clamping width. The 40cm center-to-center width bar has a 100mm clamping area, the 42cm has a 120mm, and the 44cm has a 140mm. The drop is a shallow 25mm while the reach is a mid-range 150mm. The Cobra Wing is compliant with the latest UCI base bar regulations; it fits within the 3:1 ratio they currently mandate. The Cobra Wing Bar can be used with any brand extension without voiding the warranty, provided they have a 31.8mm clamp. Likewise, the bar can be used with any brand stem, provided the clamp is 31.8mm in diameter. Any brand bar end brake lever should fit; the older band-style with external cable routing is provided a slot for running the housing inside the wing and the newer plug-style can run the cable internally all the way through. The color of the Profile Design Cobra Wing Base Bar is high gloss Carbon.

Strength:

great shape
can accept aero bars without voiding warranty
stiff
good cable routing

Weakness:

shape makes them look a bit bulky compared to some bars

I have the 44cm; ridden these bars for a couple of thousand miles. The are so far excellent. Very comfortable. Look great (I have the matching seatpost).
