Price Paid:  $0.00 at superGo Santa monica

Favorite Ride:
Griffith Park Los Angeles

Bike Setup:
Haven't done the custom set-up yet. That'll happen in the next couple weeks.

Summary:
My first real bike. Compared to other bikes that I tried before buying, the Altec has excellent handling, quick response. Comfortable ride. Too early to tell, on other details. I bought this in Jan 2004, so it's a discontinued (2002) model. The price seemed right.

Strengths:
The ride for the price. Lots of compliments from other bikers. Also learning about the SuperGo Santa Monica store, and their sales and tech departments.

Weaknesses:
None really, except a small clikcing noise in the higher (easier) gears. Some say that's normal.

Price Paid:  $1300.00 at Super Go at Arizona

Favorite Ride:
accept for the bugs L.A. River to Long Beach

Summary:
I had wanted a Road Bike for awhile and came across a scattante Altec gray with shimano rims and Ultegra components. I tried Treks, Cannondales, Specialized, etc. but was immediately hooked when I test rode this bike. With the carbon on forks and back end sitting on shimano rims hearing nothing but the humming of aluminum hugging the rode at 23 mph was simply awesome + the easy shifts between gears. This is my first road bike and am looking forward to maybe continue getting scattante's in the future in pursuing cycling as part of my daily excercise.

Strengths:
very light, agile, affordable, comfortable, smooth, stiff, and forgiving.

Weaknesses:
looks so nice on the road that someone tried steal my bike!!!! Please bike with a partner

Price Paid:  $1300.00 at online

Favorite Ride:
all

Bike Setup:
same as everyone else

Summary:
At first I was not pleased with the bike at all but that was just because the derailers were messed up. since i got those dialled in I have loved the bike. I ride it hard everyday with little problems. I put 1300 miles on the rubino tires and I still love em.

Strengths:
Price, it's light and active. The paint rules and it accelerates like no ones business.

Weaknesses:
the weyeless bars and stem and seat post are all soft, they flex alot. the looks you get from roadies when you drop ther asses.

Similar Products Used:
cannondale, trek, giant, specialized,

Price Paid:  $500.00 at Supergo

Favorite Ride:
03 Scattante Altec 2

Bike Setup:
Dura Ace

Summary:
Very stiff and light. Acceleration is as good as any frame I have riden. Paint is good and nothing from the road seems to stick to it. I am using a carbon seatpost and with the carbon stays, its ride quality is just as good as the Ti bike I have been riding.

Strengths:
PRICE!
Stiff and light.
Looks good

Weaknesses:
None as of yet.

Price Paid:  $1300.00 at supergo

Favorite Ride:
usery pass

Bike Setup:
stock aside from specelized tiers.

Summary:
for the money this bike rocks. understand though, that this is coming from a mountain bike guy and this is my first road bike. I use it for training and have not tried racing yet. For this purpose it has worked and felt great. Before buying i test road many other bikes. for me this bike seemed the most connected to the road. the ride seems much smoother then a pure aluminum frame thanks to the carbon stays. I have gotten some snubs from the bike snods for the name on the frame but i`m not riding for their approval. So if you can handel the snears from the snobs this bike is great, i love it and would pay for it again.

Strengths:
price...price ...price. for the money this staving student couldnt have done better. The ultegra group shifts great.

Weaknesses:
the tires that came on where to flimsy for training and got slashed up pretty quick. I slaped on some heavier tires. and the problem was solved.
