Price Paid:  $4500.00 at Sundance

Favorite Ride:
Any Ride Sanat Ynez Valley

Bike Setup:
My bike is full Dura-Ace triple and has a Ksyrium wheel set.

Summary:
The CSI is everything I have been told about riding a custom steel frame bike. The bike is responsive, comfortable and handles like a dream. Prior to the decision to buy the CSI
I looked at just about every other bike on the market and read test reports about most of the bike in the price range. I found that components were not an issue because you can have whatever combinations you want but frames are another story. The overwhelming fact is that there are very few custom frames built to fit the individual. In fact frame builders charge at least an extra $1000.00 to have a custom frame built. There are very few frames built with lugs or made of steel. Even at the $3500 to $5000 most of the frames are production quality and that is the main difference when choosing to have a Serotta built. If you are spending this kind of money you need to consider a custom frame and Serotta is the guy If you are looking for a classic bike built using today’s technology then this is the bike for you.

Strengths:
I have ridden my CSI 1600 miles five months. The bike has a very comfortable ride after 50 to 60 miles. I would feel tired from the constant vibration and pounding of my Giant OCR. After the same distance on the CSI my neck and back are not stiff.

Weaknesses:
Weakness, I really have not found a weakness with this bike. I guess I could say weight but I took that into account before the purchase and choose comfort, durability and classic styling over a few pounds.

Similar Products Used:
I looked at Trek’s 5200, 5500 and Litespeed. I decided that the Serotta CSI custom is a better value everything being equal such as wheels and components.
