Price Paid:  $40.00 at Landry's Bicycles

Favorite Ride:
Hills, then flats, then more hills, then a huge downhill

Bike Setup:
Cannondale T2000 touring bike.

Summary:
I bought this lock at the same time as i got my Cannondale T2000. I wanted a lock that would keep my bike safe regardless of where i was. I'm a big fan of Specialized products, the are (nearly) always well engineered and tested. Though this lock is a bit pricy i decided it was worth the money. I have used it very little thus far, but have been very satisfied when i have. It is very compact and comes with a rubber case that mounts with velcro straps to wherever you want. Though it is kind of heavy, it's not unnecessary heft. The lock is one of those cylindrical locks (not a bic-picking lock). Apparently Specialized has discontinued this lock for 2005 though, a shame.

Strengths:
Collapses to small size, comes with a nice case, quality lock. The key can't be removed while the lock is open, which prevents leaving it unlocked.

Weaknesses:
Tends to rattle (jingle) when you ride, somewhat heavy.

Similar Products Used:
Schwinn cable lock.

Price Paid:  $0.00

Bike Setup:
mtb: rodky mountain element.
road: buying this week-- either specialized sequoia or trek 520.

Summary:
I like the lock-- don't recall how much i paid for it-- it's design allows for it to fold up pretty compactly, while still being a fairly heavy-duty lock.

-everytime i hear of a bike getting stolen, i can't help but to think of the karma coming the way of the thief.

Strengths:
strong, folds up

Weaknesses:
more compact than a u-lock, but it would be nice if it had a rubbery shell like the u-locks, so as to not scratch your bike.

Similar Products Used:

-putting voodoo hex on bike to ward off thieves.
