at bike shop, Winnetka, IL Bike Setup: Trek Touring bike Summary: I bought a pair of these tires a year ago, because I was tired of getting puncture flats. Since I bought them, on two occassions I had the tube push out the side and explode. The first time I was far from home and had to hitch a ride. When I took the tire back to the shop at which I purchased it, they replaced it without asking any questions. I wondered then whether there was a known design defect. The second time it happened I was returning home from a 40 mile ride. I replaced with a different type of tire.
The tread is not impervious to glass. I have had a puncture flat.
It is possible that I damaged the sidewall in some way reinstalling. However, I have owned other tires without the bead separation problem. Strengths: Puncture resistant tread Weaknesses: Weak sidewalls, separation of sidewalls from bead, allowing tube to push through, making tire worthless; worse than a puncture Similar Products Used: Continental Sport 1000
