Strengths: light weight frame, the Rolf Vectors were great, smooth roling wheels(but they arnt as light as my team ti's) 105 works great, never a problem with this bike Weaknesses: other than Its owner, The Alum Frame is a little harch on chip and seal roads, but the ti spokes and carbon seatpost help alot Similar Products Used: My other bike is a 30 yr old 531 lugged

at Bike Connection, reg Summary: Just to add my homage regarding this bike to other folk's glowing reviews. This was my first really good bike, and I loved it from the first ride three years ago to the most recent just this morning. 5500 miles and counting. Can't wait to ride again tomorrow.
Nice and light, very responsive, comfortable ride, rolls and corners faster than friends' boutique bikes.
Thank you, Trek. Hope your recent models are as good as this one. Strengths: Stiff, light frame. Fast and very comfortable for long rides. Handles beautifully and is nicely stable even during occasional 40 mph downhills. The Rolf wheels are amazing - light but very tough, needing only very slight truing despite >1200 miles per year. Excellent value, with high performance without a stunning price tag. Weaknesses: Replaced the stock seat with a Mens Lib Ti - much more comfortable. Also broke one of the pedal clips while far from home, and had to walk miles in cleats. Shimano 105 deraileurs require a little tinkering to keep shifting smoothly.
Flashy red color is obnoxious to me, but some might prefer to show off. Similar Products Used: Old Japanese steel bike ("Eldorado") for commuting to grad school. No comparison.

at Bicycle Sport Shop Favorite Ride: hills around Austin, Texas Bike Setup: The bike is a 60cm model. It came with Rolf Vector wheels, and a Selle Italia gel seat. I changed the Icon stem to one that angles upwards rather than downwards, and that helped with the lower back numbness. Summary: The 2000 version of the Trek 2200 is an excellent bike. I bought it brand new off the shelf in May of 2002. It is hard to believe it had not sold over the 2000 or 2001 seasons. But because of its age, a 25% discount was offered, resulting in the before-tax price of $1,229. Strengths: The bike is lightweight, and handles very well. The triple chain ring is very useful for me when riding around the hills of Austin. Some days the headwind is so strong in Austin that I need the largest ring even on the semi-flat areas. Weaknesses: None that I have yet noticed regarding the bike itself, except perhaps that the aluminum frame allows bumps to be felt more intensely. The only real weaknesses are related to my own physiology---I get a numb lower back and numb right hand after riding only about 45 minutes. I never had the back numbness problem with my mountain bike where I am seated more vertically. Similar Products Used: I test rode bikes that were 2 or 3 times more expensive, including Look and LeMond. But for the price, I am completely happy with the Trek 2200.

at Bicycle Adventure, K Favorite Ride: trek 2200 Bike Setup: Changed to a more comfortable saddle. Changed handlebar height.I put on an aero bar, but still haven Summary: First road bike, after having ridden a hybrid, greatly modified, for over 18 months. The 2200 initial set-up was difficult for me. I changed the saddle immediately, and had to raise the handlebars about one inch to preclude dead hands, arms, shoulders. Strengths: This is a light, fast, and comfortable bike. The gearing took some practice, but is terrific. The ROLF wheels are superb, and wouldn't have any other kind now. Weaknesses: Very poor tires. I had to replace both at 1500 miles. Similar Products Used: None

at American Cycle & Fitness Bike Setup: Stock-going to replace saddle, am experiencing some numbness after a few hours of riding Summary: Excellent bike for the price. I feel you are getting a quality bike with very good components that performs well for under $1500, granted I did buy new as last year's model. The 2001 model has the same setup and would recommend it. I also have to Thank Alan for turning me onto this ride.... Strengths: I feel good riding this bike. Componentry performs well. This is my first road bike in my adult life, I wanted to stay under a $1k but after test riding this bike a few times I had to have it!! Weaknesses: None that I have found.....there a few creeks here or there (or is that my body?) Similar Products Used: Test rode Lemond Buenos Aries, Specialized Allez Sport, Bianci model?? - all these bikes felt good, the Trek felt/performed as good as all the others, plus the price was right
