Strength:

Fast, Light, Climbs really well. Keeps up really well with modern bikes. Reliable and sturdy running gear. Looks really good in white.

Weakness:

Seat is hard as, other than that it's a champion.

Got this baby of a mate for free to get into riding and have loved it from the start. Solid group set and rolls really well, gets lots of comments that it's a great older bike. Light, climbs really well and easy to get power out of it.

Strength:

light, stiff, good transfer of power, great components, rolls super fast. love it.

Weakness:

probably some, haven't found em yet.

never ridden a road bike before this one, but i had a cannondale mountain bike and fell in love with the stiff, light cannondale frame. decided to try a road bike and wanted to stick with a cannondale, and i was not disappointed. this bike is very light, very stiff, rolls like a dream. what i love about cannondales is you can really feel the transfer of power from your pedal to the bike's roll forward, there's no flex or wasted motion. even after 9 years, the components are strong, it shifts quickly, brakes well. i am a cannondale fan.

I was looking for a nice road bike to augment my mountain bike training. I found it! The R800 is very light, and super fast. Suprisingly, the echelon carbon fiber fork really soaks up the little bumps. I had the shop install a triple crank to help with the terrain around here. Nice......VERY NICE!

I know people love many things in life:
Chocolates, T.V., T-Bone Steak, Football on Sundays, beer.
But this bike is above em' all! Riding the C-Dale R800
is like living a dream. Or something like that.
NO, just buy it damn it! And quit complaining how
life is boring and your back hurts. Well that's
my non-technical description for this beauty.
What's yours?

This is an awesome bike. I've got over 2,000 miles on it with no problems. Because I race cross country I need a good training bike and this does the trick.
It is also super fast and I'm planning on racing it this year. The only complaint is the Conti tires which are solid when new but after so many miles and feed back from other riders say they fall apart really easily. If you want to race both on and off road this bike is for the racer on a budget.

This is one great awesome bike! The shimano 105 gruppo functions great, the bike steers light and rides light. About the weight, I can say that this bike (56cm frame) weighs just under 9 kilos without pedals.
The wheels are great also, double butted DT black spokes and Mavic CXP23 rims. These rims aren't even for sale in 1999, it looks like Mavic made these rims specially for Cannondale (can anyone confirm this?) The Hubs are made by Sachs
and are the road equivalent of the Sachs Quarz hubs with the very good seals.
The fact that the wheels are radially spoked means that the hub flanges should be stronger than normal and Cannondale recognized this by using these Sachs hubs. All in al a great bike!

Strength:

Good value for a pretty stock product (aluminum, 105s, carbon fork).

Weakness:

My rear derailleur has become a bit sloppy after 5000 miles, but these things happen.

Every bike company on earth has an aluminum built up with 105s, carbon fork, blah blah blah. Most cost 1400, I got mine for 1100. Not bad.
