Strength:

Shimano shifters, Frame is well made from good quality steel, American made frame, Frame is comfortable (seems to flex in the right directions), Looks cool, Comfy saddles, Can't beat it for the money.

Weakness:

Wish it had braze ons for futur disk brake but that's minor. Really, I haven't found any weaknesses.

My wife and I are very happy with this bike. Yeah. We could have spent more money for a tandem but would we really go any faster on a more expensive bike? I don't think so. I do think that the Rumba is the lowest level tandem I would consider though. The bike is top notch in all respects.

Strength:

Great responsive frame (same as the Duet), VERY comfortable for stoker, excellent value.

Weakness:

A bit on the heavy side. Stock Richey 25c tires flat easy and wear out fast, not appropriate for Tandems. Rear wheel removal is a pain if you use the optional arai rear drum so a flat rear tire on the road takes some time and patience.

If you want to keep your stoker happy this is the bike for you. Frame is stiff, responsive and predictable and very stoker friendly. The beam takes getting used to for an EXPERIENCED stoker rider as its "alive" underneath you. Bobbing is really minimal if seat position is properly set up, and is less of an issue for someone with less experience in the saddle. The slope of the beam may be intimidating for the stoker at first, little clearance for mounting/dismounting, but not really a problem if you try it. The beam is vastly superior to any suspended seatpost at any price-its just physics. Adjustable stoker stem is highly recommended- comfort is everything back there! Spring for clipless pedals, toe clips are harder to get into on a tandem than a single. Put the computer in the back, its fun to for the stoker to play with. Captain gets to ride more often with a happy stoker! Road tested both softride and traditional (rigid) Rumba models as well It felt like the softride frame geometry in the rear makes a stiffer frame, more responsive steering. Excellent value for the price. Bomb-proof wheels have had many miles of rough rocky roads and remain true. Shimano 105 STI shifters work ok, but shift sticky, lube everything well and upgrade when theyre worn. The water bottle cages in the rear are awkward for pulling bottles in and out, although a large bottle size can still fit in them on our medium size frame. Also, it's not possible to attach most little seat bags for tubes, because of the softride beam. We have a small triangular frame-mounted bag instead.

Strength:

Excellent performance for the price. Little frame flex and tracks like its on rails. Comfortable for 100+mile rides. Top end speed and low overall wieght.

Weakness:

RSX component group up front. No disc brake mount on hub.

Don't skimp on a good tandem. This is as low as I owuld want to go. You get good performance without breaking the bank. It out performs other bikes in it's category. Construction and quality are top-notch.

Strength:

Value and Price.

Weakness:

I didn't like the brakes. I've upgraded to hydraulic brakes and am very happy.

I believe Burley's to be a great value. This is our first tandem and has been a lot of fun. The ride is nice and handling predictable.

None. This is our first tandem.
