Suspension, Durability

Gooseneck

This is a fantastic bike. My dad bought the metallic Sedona DS off of craigslist. It was not a appealing bike at first. I did not love the color and it looked really weird. But when I gave it a try I fell in love and bought a silver one. I am over 6 foot and it's very uncomfortable to ride most bikes. However this bike is tall and has a huge Gooseneck that is great for bigger guys. Not only is this a comfortable bike, it is very durable. It's march of 2014 in this bike is still in excellent condition. However overtime the adjustable gooseneck has teeth inside that wear out from abuse. I just this year had to replace it with a solid gooseneck I got for about eight dollars. This bike is definitely not pretty and it rusted a little bit after all these years. I took and repainted it black. It now looks really good. I'm pretty sure this paint will hold out for years to come in the bike itself will too. This is just one of the highest quality bikes that you could find. They don't make bikes like these anymore. I would not trade it for any other bike. If you find one of these bikes I would highly recommend buying it.

Strength:

Smooth, comfortable ride.

Weakness:

Shifter.

I love the bike. Bought it in 2003. Didn't use it much until 2009 and now have used it DAILY for the past 3 years. It's not a light bike and therefore not built for speed. But it is a very comfortable cruiser. I do like the shifter for the most part, but when I am pumping hard, up a hill, I have a tendency to crank the shifter a little bit, which makes for a very inconvenient gear shift.

About 5 years ago, I actually had a major mishap, as I had the bike strapped to a car rack, driving across country at 75 mph. The bike came loose, bumping and skidding across the freeway lanes. I did manage to retrieve it and reattached it to the rack. But amazingly, the damage was minor, considering. I paid a mere $55 to have it repaired. My point is that this is a sturdy bike.

WON'T PEDDLE BY ITSELF!!

this is 2012 now this bike was built in 2002 and it rides fantastic it might look a little strange but HEY!! it's UNIQUE @ least by LOOKS and WHO would steal-it (unless they have ridden it before) IT IS VERY SMOOTH OPERATING AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE OTHER REVIEWS ABOUT THE SHIFTERS UNLESS IT'S BECAUSE THEY WERE THE FIRST IN THAT ERA.IV'E HAD ALOT newer bikes that I wouldn't TRADE FOR THIS PUPPY!!

Strength:

smooth, very smooth. the riding position is easy on the body and the shop cut the seat post to give the suspension mor headroom. the $260 could not be beat. brand new ot of the box assembled that day on clearence. perfect.

Weakness:

take off is not as responsive due to the full suspension. mine is bronze metallic. i wish i had the silver one. i'll hit back after the newly planned bike trips i have if this thing gives me probs

if cadillac would make a bike this would be it. smooth. it rides smooth. the full suspenion is adicting. it not a fast bike, the suspension absorbs a lot of the take off pedal power. but when yor moving wich will be 90% of the time you can absorb the ambience of the ride. i wanted a marin muirwoods but it was $400 out of my price range. so for the $260 i paid i am getting a yakima loco joe bike rack $75 front halogen light and rear red beacon tail light together for $36 and a crossbar attachment for the ds to sit firmly in the bike rack $30. so with all the safety and logistics stuff i ended up spending a little over $410. with the marin id be about 580 in the hole. the giant was on clearance all the silver ones were gone so i got bronze dirt looking one. im not too excitred about the color but the ride is to dream for.

marin muirwoods. this bike is fast and extremely lite. well worth the $400 price but out of my range. it's like a sports car. i might get one later on to have an opposite to my cadillac ride

Strength:

Full Suspension. Comfortable upright seating position.

Weakness:

None that I've found yet.

I love this bike! I've ridden mountain bikes for years and since I'm in my 40's now and I wanted some comfort, it was time to upgrade. I was looking at a Trek Y26 full suspension. I gave the Sedona DS a try on a day when my back was out (something I couldn't do with my existing Trek) and I didn't feel a thing. Upright position and shorter reach for the handlebar made a huge difference. I was little hesitant at first based on my original impression of Giant from the 80's when they were just cheap imports but I made the leap. I couldn't be happier I did. I just do some recreational street and bike trail riding so a lower end full suspension like this is perfect. Talk about a smooth ride! My wife took it out for a quick ride around the block to see what it was like. An hour later, she return saying she needs to get one, too.

Strength:

Suspension and ability to adjust the rider's riding position.

Weakness:

None as of yet

I jump curbs and ride extended distances at a time and find the comfort and ease in shifting to be most satisfying.

Strength:

Everything.

Weakness:

I would have to say the shifter. But that is only my personal opinion.

I love this bike!!!!!!!! Rides like a dream. Handle bumps really well. Although I don't really like the shifter. It maybe a comfortable shifter, but when I have to peddle hard, I find myself shifting gears when I don't want to shift. If you plan on getting one of these, be prepared to be stopped and asked questions. It's a real conversation starter. ;-)
