the seal is well-made and tolerances are tight, so the megamorph should last quite a while. it handles presta and schrader without modification, and features attachments for balls and air mattresses securely clipped to the air hose. it also features a pressure release button on the head.

the megamorph is a solid piece of equipment, but it falls down when it hits the details. the pressure release button is exactly where you want you finger to be when pulling the head of a tire valve, so you have to be careful. the fold-down pressure dial is a cool idea, but it's hard to see when you're three feet above it. the fold out pedal on the bottom isn't wide enough to effectively stabilize the pump. the handle is inexplicably too small for two hands, and the seal is tight, so you really need them. every time I use the megamorph, I find myself remembering an old $40 Blackburn floor pump which was lighter, easier to use, and moved a lot more air. all told, topeak hasn't created a monster, but it's no great triumph either.

REI sells these for 100. I needed a compact floor pump I could travel with easily and stuff away in a big backpack. out of the package, the megamorph is sleek and shiny. it feels well-built with all moving parts doing their jobs without protest or play. it does what is says on the packaging, unfolding slightly less than I expected but serving as a decent floor pump that's neither heavy nor bulky.
