Strength:

Smooth braking power. Easy to adjust. Fine looking polish.

Weakness:

Not much.

I upgraded my old 95 veloce brakes for a set of new ones in 2002. They are much lighter and easier to adjust than their previous models. The double pivot design is solid and braking is very smooth. I have used them for over 3500 miles and they stop perfectly.

Strength:

These brakes are not as nicely finished as the Record or Chorus, about equal to Daytona. This is noticeable only upon close inspection. The brakes are very stiff, more so than Ultegra 6400 or 105 but I like the feeling. There is no brake fade with the stock pads during long steep descents. In the scheme of Campagnolo hierarchy this design is the same as 1998/99 Mirage.

Weakness:

The cable pinch bolt arrangement. For the 2000 model Campy is using an allen head bolt and washer not the more common bolt and block on a pivot. It is possible to wind the cable up as you tighten the bolt down unless you are careful. This also allows the cable strands to unravel a bit as they willnot all fit under the flat of the washer. The other style that Shimano uses and as seen on the higher end Campy brakes is much better.
It is only a matter of personal preference but I like having a quick release incorporated into the brake caliper not at the lever as Campy has done with the advent of dual pivot designs

If you want great performance and acceptable looks at an affordable price then go for it.
