Very nice, excelent chainrings, flaweless shifting performance, compatible with FSA MegaAxo Ceramic BB

Complicated setup, defective adjusting ring, should be supplied with better BB

It is true high-end crankset. It was constructed on Alu core and reinforced with carbon layers. This cranked is very nice, true aesthetic masterpiece with solid and nice and durable coating. This crankset is quite solid and massive alu/carbon construction, but relatively light, the weight of 172.5 long set with all necessary bolts but w/o bb is exactly 660g. The most impressive in this crankset are chainrings. They are beautifully and extremely clearly profiled. After close look the shapes of its toots it is seen easily that the shape of each out of them was optimized and differs to the each others. I have seen many expensive high-end cranksets in bike belonging to my colleagues SRAM Red, Campagnolo Record, as well ridden on some out of them (FSA K-Force MegaAxo) but quality of Dura Ace FC-7800C chainrings of are superior to each of them. This crankset is supplied with common Dura Ace BB-7900 bracket. I still wonder why Shimano consequently avoid applying ceramic bearings to its bottom brackets. Dura Ace BB-7900 is good part much better than typical FSA MegaAxo, but definitely inferior when compared to FSA MegaAxo Ceramic who is usually added to the most advanced FSA cranksets. Much better BB should be supplied with this fairy expensive crankset. Fortunately Dura Ace BB-7800C is fully compatible with MegaAxo brackets, so that I mounted my Shimano crankset on ceramic FSA bottom bracket. Setup, it is more complicated than old Shimano cranksets but also Shimano Ultegra 6600 and even FSA K-Force. The biggest bug in mounting is the bolt of adjusting ring. This bolt is definitely to short consequently the thread can be striped very easy. The replacement of this bolt to longer one is absolutely necessary and should be performed before screwing the crank arm. Rolling this crankset is very smoothly (on FSA ceramic bearings). The extremely precisely crafted chainrings promises great shifting performance, and they really shifts flawlessly. No matter where is rear derailleur and how much Power is put to the pedal changing a chainrings is performed immediately firmly with short, quiet metallic sound limited only to the moment when cage tough the chain. Using this crankset I have never experienced dropping the chain between chainrings (typical problem with FSA K-Force). The Dura Ace BB-7800C also changes chainrings better compared Ultegra 6600, Ultegra 600 and all other crankset that I previously used.
