The ride quality on this bike is superb compared with the CD01 and Felt B12 I road tested in the same route. There were some patches where the other two bikes required me to get on the hoods (to stabilize the bike over the bumps) but the Kestrel just rode right over. Like butter. This is perplexing to me since the Kestrel also had an amazing power transmission. On the CD01 and the Felt B12, each pedal stroke is greeted by a mushy feeling while on the Kestrel, each power stroke results in a surge. As if you are kicking the frame directly with each power stroke. Amazing on the short rollers I encountered on the test route. Compared with the CD01, the Kestrel was very stable on crosswinds, even with the deep dish Oval rims. The CD01 was highly susceptible to crosswinds even with the non-aero rims while the Felt B12 was really skittish with or without a crosswind.
After the purchase, I took the Kestrel into our TT course in Fiesta Island (Mission Bay, California). The bike was set-up at the lowest position on the stem and with the armrest at the lowest possible position. She did four laps at pace and the power transmission, stability, and ride quality showed up in spades. There were two downhill left handers in this course and I took these corners flat out on the aerobars with no hint of instability.
Overall, this bike is better than the Quintana Roo CD01 and the Felt B10 or B12 variety. I would say that it is as good as a Cervelo P3 but with slightly better components. I could have gone either way between the P3 and the Kestrel, but my buddy already has the P3, so there you go.
