Scattante CFR Frames

Scattante CFR Frames

DESCRIPTION

Scattante’s newest model, the CFR, uses a monocoque main triangle, mated to stays that were created with the same carbon technology used to create top quality carbon forks. The result? A 3.0lb masterpiece of a frame.

  • Replaceable derailleur hanger adds insurance for long-term durability.
  • Internal cable routing keeps the CFR’s beautifully smooth lines unobstructed by cables or housing.
  • Elegant monostay rear end adds lateral sprinting rigidity by shortening the seatstays, and allows an even lighter weight rear triangle.

    Strength:

price and due to volume of bikes sold high quality components for the cost.

    Weakness:

Horrible high speed shimmy at speeds above 45 mph., fork too tight to accept new wider aero wheels. Fork needs replacing for something stronger and better handling. Poor quality carbin so a lot of it was used leaving bike heavy and flexy in the wrong places.

Scattante puts on high Quality componentry aside from wheels and fork on a low quality frame. But in the end as almost always happens you get what you pay for. A 3000 dollar ride on a bike they say has an msrp of 7500. The only reason it even gets this good a ride is that the dura ace components are smooth light and precise. Spend the same money on a different companies bike that was last years model or two yrs old tech and get better bang for your dollar.

    Strength:

cheap way to get into carbon and with at least a fork upgrade ya can't beat it, climbs great and descends just as well after upgrade

    Weakness:

    the fork, the weight maybe?

scatante has a problem with the front fork shimming, replace it with any fork that performance has or better yet put in an easton ec90slx and hang on, rides as good as any top bike, had it for over 6 years and I can descend better than most and haven't had a problem yet

    Strength:

Full Ultregra with carbon frame and fork at a reasonable price.

    Weakness:

Bad high-speed wobble (in my case) and refusal (so far) of the store to accept responsibility for selling a defective product.

I have been riding my Scattante CFR for 8 months, and from the beginning it had a problem with high-speed shimmy on descents. After a particularly violent incident several weeks ago, I took the bike back to performance. Since then, I have been going " round and round" with the store, which claims its mechanics can find no problem, despite the fact that they have not tested it on downhill rides. The store's mechanics claim to be experts, but when you question them, it becomes obvious that they do not understand the problem. This bike is too dangerous to ride.
Despite Performance's advert ised "Satisfaction Guaranteed" policy, I have been unable to get the shop to admit tht the bike has a problem.

    Strength:

Inexpensive for a carbon bike with partial Ultegra components.

    Weakness:

Cheap feel to it. Hubs are not Ultegra. Based on other reviews, you will have to spend money to replace the seat post and saddle. Based on the condition of the box and some of the labeling, I got the impression that Supergo imports these bikes from Tiawan and justs sends them along to its customers. That is a long way to travel and not have the bike properly packaged.

In August 2004, I ordered my Scattante CFR '04 from Supergo.com and paid $1350 (10% off the $1,500 price). After some customer servise problems the bike finally came. Huge disappointment. The bike was so poorly packaged inside that the bike that it had all kinds of scrapes and defects. The brake lever had rubbed against a spoke and resulted in a huge scratch, one of the cables was crushed and there were other miscellaneous scrapes on the bike. I was extremely surprised at how little protective packaging there was on the bike. There were many instances of bike parts rubbing against each other. Also, although the bike is advertised to have Ultegra components, the front and rear hubs are not Ultegra. Thke bike had a very cheap feel to it so I just sent it back. Fortunately, customer service didn't give me any proclems in the return process. For a bike that regularly sells for $1,500, I expected a lot more. I am now looking at the Litespeed Firenza which retails for $2,095. Now, Bikesmart.com has them on sale for $1,795.

    Strength:

Light weight, smooth ride, beautiful finish.

    Weakness:

Not a well-known name in the group ride, but if you don't care about that, it's an unbelievable bargain.

I bought this frameset used on ebay. The original owner didn't like the ultra-quick steering and went for a more traditional frame geometry. I've ridden this for about 300 miles in 2 weeks, and find it more comfortable than a Trek 5200. It's not as stiff as the Trek, but it's stiff enough in sprints and climbs. The steering is more nervous than the Trek, but I don't mind that. I love the color and finish. Very high quality.
