Strength:

cost, frame, weight

Weakness:

none really. some may say componants but they are really ok

This bike over all is great. its a joy to ride and over all for the cost you cant beat it. good looking, fun to ride, very firm and nimble. Some may say the drivetrain are low ball, but i really have not had any issues or feel like they are cheap. Im no Lance Armstrong, but other than a pro rider, i dont see the need to upgrade at this time. Maybe if the Shimano Tiagra drivetrain starts to fall apart then i can see why upgrading is a must. But it shifts smooth, seems well built, weight not really much more than top of the line parts. I did have to replace the OEM brake pads, they were kind of hard and really didnt stop the bike very well. I also replaced the OEM saddle, it was a little small for my big butt.Over all this bike is a great buy, any if you want to buy a top of the line drivetrain in the future, you would have one sweet bike. The carbon frame on this bike seems to be very well made. All in all 4 out of 5 starts for me. And because its last years model, i got it for $1199. cant go wrong!!!!

Strength:

stiff yet compliant

Weakness:

heavy components, but I guess you have to concider the price with a full carbon bike...

Just got this bike and love it! I had a better wheelset and swapped those out right away but after that I just kept everything else. Great ride, great handling slow and fast. For the money, this bike is hard to beat.

Strength:

cost for performance, quick, agile, comfortable, looks great, the Tiagra works much better than I thought it would.

Weakness:

Just nit-picking stuff: The calipers don't open enough to get tires bigger than 23c off without removing a brake pad. White handle bar tape gets dirty very quickly.

This is my first good road bike, and I couldn't be happier. IMHO the Defy Advaned 4 is a terrific value: It rides like a dream, is quite fast and nimble-- yet still very comfortable, and looks fantastic. The components, while not exactly high-end, work just fine and my plans to upgrade the drivetrain have been put on indefinite hold due to Tiagra being much better than expected.
