Easton EA90 RT wheelsets - clincher

DESCRIPTION

Easton EA90 RT Road Front Wheel 2013 Improved ride quality, better cornering traction, fewer flats; these are just a few reasons to ride road tubeless. Easton engineers recognized these benefits and saw an opportunity to make a better road tubeless wheel system using some of the technology that 8217;s made Easton 8217;s UST mountain wheels category leaders. The EA90 RT wheelset utilizes a proprietary rim design that holds a road tubeless bead securely even at pressures less than 100psi and holds an airtight seal between the rim and tire. A 17.5-milimeter internal rim width provides an improved tire profile for added stability and even better flat resistance. We didn 8217;t skimp on details with the road tubeless: The wheels rely on our sealed cartridge bearing R4 hubs, alloy freewheel and Sapim stainless spokes. As with all Easton wheels, the EA90 RT is entirely hand-built and acoustically tuned so it stays straight and true longer. Easton EA90 RT Road Front Wheel 2013 Features:

Strength:

Light, fast on climbs and downhills, true

Weakness:

Low spoke count, defective spokes

I bought these wheels in mid-season 2013. After approx 800 miles, a spoke broke on the rear wheel. This is indicative of this wheel since Easton produced a batch with defective spokes. Some have experienced problems with the front wheel as well, but that was not my experience. I sent the wheel in for repair and the wait was 2 months to get it back. I was not too happy about that, vowing never to buy another Easton wheel again. However, once the rebuilt wheel was returned from Easton, I have changed my mind. I am approaching 4000 miles without a problem with either the spokes or truing. These wheels have proven to be durable even the spoke count is low for my body frame/weight. The hub is sound and spins forever when brought up to speed on a work station. Once rebuilt to spec, I am very pleased with this wheel set.
