Price Paid:  $300.00 at Cyclepath North

Favorite Ride:
Bragg Creek

Bike Setup:
Many bikes over the years. 700c wheels work best on this trainer.

Summary:
I bought this as soon as it came out in the mid-nineties. No leaks and great performance. Zero warranty issues. Might be the best money I have ever spent on bike stuff in 25+ years of riding. Probably 20k km equivalent on it (maybe more).

Strengths:
Good progressive resistance. As strong today as it was when I first bought it.

Weaknesses:
Gets hot - but mine had ample warnings.

Minoura

Price Paid:  $259.00 at Fairahven Bike

Favorite Ride:
Chuckanut Mountain

Bike Setup:
Road bike trainer - indooor.

Summary:
My experience is exactly the same as the other reviewers above. I purchased the trainer and I liked it. It worked perfectly for about 12 months, then began to leak oil. In short order all the oil was gone and so was the resistance! There is obviously a design problem with the seal on the resistance unit. This could be a great product if they could only get this problem solved.

Strengths:
Quiet, stong, easy to set up and store, small footprint. Good resistance (when it is operating!!!)

Weaknesses:
Oil leak leads to an extremely short lifespan for a product of this cost.

Price Paid:  $250.00 at REI

Summary:
I've tried 3 different models of the cyclops fluid trainer and have broken 3 of these in the last 4 years.
Eventually, the thing overheats and the fluid leaks out. On the otherhand, REI is great for returning my money.

Strengths:
Smooth, quiet ride.

Weaknesses:
Breaks after short time

Similar Products Used:
mag units (not as smooth but doesn't break), wind trainers (too noisey)
